Yup, we have. Out squad is bloated, we generate far less cash that our competitors and we're paying bang on what we're able to pay on wages, consistent in terms of % with all the other top clubs. If we can't shift the deadwood bloating our squad, we can't then go and spend more money that isn't in fact available. That would completely contravene what has got us this far. I don't like it but ultimately when you're in a situation that you're not registering 3 players because of the excess in the squad, you can't go beyond your means. Unless you want to sign the players that the non-top 6 have signed? Because not one player in that collective would make our bench.

I earn a certain amount, so a drive an Astra. I'd like an Audi but that would be more than I can afford, so I keep my Astra in good nick and maximise what I can get out of it.

No, so we sign no one, and all those behind us strengthen whilst we piss in the wind for whatever reason. It's never been about competing for world record deals - it's about showing some ambition and to at least offer our trophyless star players some hope that we are moving in the right direction ON and off the pitch..
