Dunno...challenging for the title with a happy squad...or slogging it out for 4th, with a miserable bunch of sods

More realistically, I dount chelsea would sell...to us Eek

Also if you remember the interview he did with Ade on the Spurs site, he was very kind about our fans. Maybe there was something in that.

great interview, he mentioned ledley only being out a week or so and gallas coming back soon so i don't think we'll be in for a centre back now.

The case for buying a centre back now has always been a bit weak. We have pretty much a one match a week fixture list until the end of the season without mid week fixtures ( http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/matches/matches_frr.html)

We have 3 fit CB's now in Dawson, Kaboul and Bassong with Gallas injury forecast by many pundits as being 2 - 3 weeks out (ie may be back for Man City if we are lucky) and King possibly a week away.

With luck we could get away with Dawson, Kaboul and Bassong for the remaining matches, although Gallas and/or King being back would certainly lend experience and might give us a few more points. But we do not need both King and Gallas to both be fit for the remainder of the season to have all the good CB's we need

If we sold Bassong, is Samba as good or better than Dawson or Kaboul who would be his main competitors long term ? Is there someone else available who is better than Samba ? If we bought now, which of our 5 CB's would not play in the one game a week remainder of the season ?

Looking forward to next season, probably with Champions League (or if not Europa League), we will need 4 fit CB's. Gallas has 2 more years on his contract as I understand it, so he will be here. Dawson and Kaboul, will be here. King - who knows if we are to extend it. And Caulker will either be back or possibly on loan.

We will probably buy a top class CB in the Summer to have alongside Dawson, Kaboul, Gallas and either King or Caulker (doubt if we can fit both into the 25 man squad). If we do not buy then, we have probably decided Caulker is good enough !

Dragon1 on COYS, re: Tevez...

he is the marquee signing harry wants

we have offered pav plus money for remy we are miles apart,we will sell pav elsewhere if necessary and buy remy, there are no plans to buy any wingers or midfielders, the player harry loves is tevez i think wages means deal highly unlikely

Well I might be more inclined to see the need for Samba if initial reports of King being out for 2 months were correct. Although Spursidol makes a good point that we have depth even with Gallas and King out indefinitely. However, I feel that Harry doesn't have a lot of faith in Bassong and Kaboul and Dawson are no stranger to injury. But if King is already coming back, then why spend the money.

Samba's not bad, and probably as good as we could hope for in a winter market. But he's a patch and not the kind of long term investment that many on here would rather see.

To be fair, both points are right

Does Arry want Tevez? Yes!

Do we have a chance of signing him in January? Hell no!

I can see why people would want Tevez, but who are we going to upset to accommodate him (assuming we could actually do so)?

Assuming that Bale, Modric and Parker our 3 of our midfielders.....do we

switch to a 4-4-2 pulling VDV wide right and pissing off Azza and VDV
or
stay with a 4-5-1 and piss of Adebayor
or
use him as an impact sub and piss of Tevez

Seems like a poisoned chalice if it happens. Right now one thing helping us is morale.

Citeh selling Tevez to us is like us selling Bale to United or United selling Rooney to Citeh - makes no sense.

Doesn't it feel great that, aside from transfer fee and wage, clubs won't sell to us because we are a threat?

To be fair, how many managers in England wouldn't want Tevez?

Wanting a player is a small percentage. Having the funds to pull it off is ultimately what holds us back

I personally don't think he's worth the effort. He hasn't stayed at a club in England for over 2 years I think, refused to play, has huge wages, will "want to return home" at some point, and he isn't even close to match fit now.

Yeah he's very very talented but weren't we all saying City could implode because Mancini wouldn't be able to handle the personalities of Adebayor and Tevez?

IMO, Tevez isn't impossible.

According to this Guardian article, he was willing to take a pay cut to the (now apparently flatlined) Milan deal which if my maths works, means he'd be on 65k a week, something we could easily afford. However, we might not be as attractive as a prospect as Milan to Tevez - but as he's seemingly a puppet of Joobrachin's, we could try to up that to bring him here, plus a large signing on fee.

Regarding every other club being interested in him: could it be possible a lot of them see him as a timebomb? He doesn't seem like the brightest and if you let his advisors muscle into him too much he goes crazy. He'd be the perfect 'Levy keep him happy, Arry give support' signing.

Levy wants a statement, Tevez wants a fresh start, Joobrachin wants money. This could happen.
