It's impossible to rate ITK full stop. It's been said over and over again and I don't understand why people don't pay attention to that.

Anyway...my point is that the article is wrong, pure and simple. Admittedly I only know about the Goat and not everything else but on that front it's just wrong.

I agree that it's difficult to rate ITK, but I wouldn't say it's impossible. As has been said many times, lots of stuff goes on behind the scenes and different ITKs post information from different stages of the process; a lot of it does't come to fruition not because the info was wrong, but because things break down/we go in a different direction. However, some ITK like 'Diarra done' can be rated, since it's a very clear statement, and that is the kind of ITK that the article tries to deal with.

I don't understand why people have a problem with the analysis of ITK; it allows everybody to get a good idea of how to treat information from different people and for me this helps people to stay calm when things are getting frustrating.

1. No it doesn't
2. Even the 'done deal' ITK can be passed on in good faith and be fully believed even by the club. As is always pointed out, alot of us saw pictures of Corluka in a Spurs shirt but then the deal fell through for a month or so. If someone had said 'done deal' at that stage would their ITK have been bollocks?

If an ITK says 'x signed at 3.30 today, he used a blue pen and he smelt of Lynx Africa' and that isn't true then that can probably be rated. If not I think you're applying science to a particularly unscientific thing, and when it's done in the childish way that it is in that article then it really doesn't help anyone.

I think that 'deal done' is a pretty clear statement, and should only really be used when there is a deal that has been fully completed. The Corluka deal obviously wasn't 'done', since he didn't start playing for us until much later. Also, just because the author of the article is not a fan of the goat, mostly I believe because of the volume of cryptics that the goat posted during the last window rather than the validity of the statements, does not mean that all of the analysis is rubbish. If nothing else, it serves as a good overview of what was said and by whom.

Anyway, I think we'll have to agree to disagree about whether ITKs can be assessed. For the record I believe that if we have enough of a sample size (which we do for a lot of ITKs) then a trend should emerge. Some ITKs I read and think that it's absolute bullshit, mostly because all the other stuff they post has never come to fruition, but also because I think I can logically construct an idea of how likely this information is to be true, based on other sources of information. Similarly, I have much more time for other ITKs, because they have got things right in the past and what they write, and the way they write it, makes sense.

this is tenuous but the dutch link could mean we are signing the player from Ajax (i forget his name) or it could be a load of tosh :)

Or maybe we are bringing tim flowers out of retirement to keep brad our resident OAP company
