Personally I don't think we will sign anyone (other than Holtby) before deadline day. Deadline day has a last minute Levy attempt for Sneijder/Kaka all over it, maybe even a cheeky bid for Willian/Belhanda

Go ahead and stick that ITK in the RO (with proper credit to the source/TFC) :)

Blame the chairman......that's makes me laugh. The chairman who forked out major dough in the summer, bringing in a class Goalie, a CB, 2 Midfielders and Clint Dempsey and has signed up a promising LB and another young midfielder. Not to mention got our new training ground open and plans afoot for the stadium.

The mentality of some on here astounds me at times. It's like we're playing real life FM at times.

He didn't "fork out" any "dough". Levy and ENIC have not spent one penny of their own money on player acquisitions or capital projects. Any money spent last summer emanated from club revenue, and we still ended up turning a profit.

As long as it's AVB:s target, I'll accept almost anyone. I trust the man.

Off topic: would LOVE Woolwich to lose Walcott too.

Not really. Levy could have bought Ba, Cisse, Jelavic, Michu etc all for really low prices and would have improved us. Were not saying go out and spend 30 mill. Yes he bought some good players in the Summer (Lloris, Verts) but he also did deals for Saha, Nelson etc when we needed something to help us secure a CL spot. Had he bought someone better last Jan we would have prob finished 3rd.

You can defend Levy all you like but you have to admit if he really is thinking of getting Kenwyne Jones in and we miss out on the top 4...who do you point the finger at? He will blame AVB. Ignoring the fact that he spends most of the TW's playing the waiting game till the last day which usually (apart from VDV) doesnt pay off.

League goals last season
Ba = 16
Dempsey = 17
Ade = 17

which did we buy in the summer??? Oh yes thats right.....

Holtby early.

Then one of
Last day bargain deal for Belhanda, maybe Sneijder at a push instead, but only if Levy can bend Inter over for the deal.
Or Sissoko on a pre-contract and potetially bought forward for a nominal fee like Holtby given the Sandro news.

And one of
Deadline day bid for Negredo taking advantage of Sevilla's desire to sell. £10m tops or...
... a bargain squad filler purely to add depth, maybe even Keane on a loan to cover Ade being at ACN.

Maybe the talk of Callejon on loan too.

This at best will be our dealings. £15-20m the lot, and thta is for 2-3 players.
No Moutinho. No Damaio. Time to move on.

Oh, and some more info from the same ITK was posted today :

"Date : 17th January 2013
ITK : NewMate
Player : Various
Source : ITK
Probability : 6/10
Status : Rumour

DL is booked on a plane for tomorrow to Europe.

In all honesty I think (note that this is opinion NOT ITK - Sibs) it goes first choice - Moutinho, if not we'll try and get Holtby in now.

For strikers first choice is still Llorente, if not Jones. However, if we get Zaha then we we wont get a striker, but then Utd will go for Walnut. All hinges on these two. Beast getting hurt has now put the pressure"

That is a fantastic juxtaposition. If we don't get one of Europe's finest strikers who would easily walk into any team in the Premier League, we'll not go and try for someone of a similar ilk, but instead sign a striker who until recently couldn't get a game for Stoke despite the fact he is the most Stoke like player in history and who has bagged an impressive 3 goals this season! Brilliant ha!

The Levy apologists are the masters of spin. Even if we were relegated and Levy ran onto the pitch to take a dump on the centre circle whilst wearing an Arsenal shirt they would still claim he is blameless. In the eyes of some, Levy can do no wrong. It's quite comical actually.

What is comical is that we've not seen hide nor hair of you, whilst the team has been unbeaten, but as soon as an opportunity arises to slag the team, manager, chairman or anyone/thing associated with the club and you're on it like a fat kid on cake.

And surely we can free up wages by just giving away Bentley, Jenas, Gomes and the money we will already have saved from Cudicini to fund a Sneijder or Belhanda late move.

I think its because from the ITK we get, it seems like we have 2 lists of transfer targets:

1. Top class players who would improve us immensely but we can never afford.
or
2. Terrible players that are a waste of time.

There is never a middle tier. So we get all this ITK that has us in a "Meltdown" and then find out that we are now in list 2. :cry:

Where would you place Sandro, Vertonghen, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Holtby or indeed the vast majority of the players we have signed over the last few seasons (Saha & Nelson aside). I'd suggest nearly all our signings fall firmly in that 'middle tier'. :confused:

What are you on about? I only visit this forum during transfer windows. The team/match discussions are boring ;)
