The Goat hears that our stance on Modric has not changed and that rumours saying we have moved the goalposts are false.

So what is our stance? Originally it seemed our stance was that Madrid pay £35-40 million or he goes nowhere. Then it seemed we had accepted a bid of around £30million? So where we at now?

Normally I'd agree with this, and actually as I'm not that massive a fan of Hudd anyway I'd not really miss him that much even if we sold him.

However whatever his limitations, with Modric gone Hudd is our only midfielder capable of passing the ball more than about 5 feet. I don't really rate him, but he's better than having nobody at all. It would be like selling Defoe at the moment.

We'll be buying somebody else though - as you know, we arn't going to loan out Hudd and sell Modric and not make a move for a ball playing midfielder.

Which regardless of our striker situation, would be awesome!

Huddlestone has been at Spurs since 2005 and is now 25. Why dont we *know* at this stage if he is good enough?

Im all for loaning out young players to help them develop and get 1st team experience, but if we were going to do it with THudd we should have done it 3-5 years ago, not now.

I like him, but Im not sure a good loan spell at a lower Prem club is going to change his status at our club....think we should make these tough decisions and not just loan him out
It may just be a case of getting him match-fit and seeing what the injuries have taken out of him.

Sorry, I don't agree with that at all. Nobody deserves a place in the team based on performances two years ago.

I used to try saying that about Robbie Keane, but no one listened. We let him live on the glory of his partnership with Berbs too long.

I certainly hope we don't do that but it is starting to get a bit close to the wire. In 11 days we still need to do a lot of deals and it would only take one transfer to go awry at the last minute and leave us without a passing midfielder at all.

In any case, shouldn't we keep him as a back up if nothing else? If Hudd goes, who replaces our new creative midfielder if he gets injured?

Haha quality story - especially loved the reference to that annoying gimmicky advert. Keep it up.and yes I'm purposefully not mentioning any ITK because i've grown so exasperated that I no longer have the will to speculate. Que sera sera

Please can the Goat elaborate on what our stance is on Modric? Wasn't our initial stance 40m?

remember how THoddlestone turned the game round for us vs young boys?

No, I remember how we changed the system to what it should have been in the first place and stopped playing like ****s. It wasn't down to one player.

And I really hope the 'o' in THoddlestone was a typo and in no way, shape or form any kind of reference to Glenn Hoddle.....

I'd still have Hudd over Livermore, every day of the week, month and year, but he's not as special as a lot of people make out.

Remember how Fabrigas ran straight past him from the kick-off to score against us. Remember how he was so easily by-passed by teams who played fast passing, quick breaking football. No use picking individual games, we can all do that, but over the years he has been here he has not lived up to his potential. A loan may just get him playing well, but it would be his last opportunity.

Do we know for sure he was talking about AVB then?

A fit Hudd is a very good player.

Yes, it was clear by his follow up tweets about him certain to be involved but being fully fit. Whilst he can pick a good pass and occasionally have a brilliant match, he is all too often bossed by better midfielders. We can't afford to carry pedestrians. I'm looking at you Jenas.

I would have to agree with you I think, maybe not his last chance but still a decent loan move and him putting 100% into it (this is a big factor) could get him back to playing well... hasn't played properly in a long time so needs to get 'match' fit not just fit.

obviously he's not the best to play against fast passing teams but there are not that many teams that play that way.
but at least he can put the foot on the ball and pass correctly (even from far range) and that's what we need to beat the likes of WBA, Newcastle, Stoke, ...

Our team has improved and the PL has improved since then. Forget what he done 2 years ago! Different set-up, manager and tactics. Can you honestly see TH pressing high up the pitch?
