You got to feel sorry for those players left at Southampton.......they must be looking at their agents with puppy dogs eyes asking 'Why does nobody like me...!!!'

Am I right in thinking that schneiderlin was the best component of the soton team last year? If so, we might have taken their two most important piece in him and MoPo.

It can be done

Utd signed Van Nistelrooy when he was out with a fucked knee, Lazio signed Gazza etc

Fiorentina signed Rossi after back to back knee injuries and he notched 16 goals for them this past season....

in regards to Jay, how does an injured player complete a medical? (which to my understanding is necessary for insurance purposes, and thus a requirement for a transfer to go through?)

To check he has no cancer, pulmonary TB or perforated diverticulitis.:)

I think there's a distinction between unknown medical problem and actual physical injury

Usually a player can't be insured for the same type of injury (e.g. Jay wouldn't be covered for another ACL on same knee). Therefore, being injured doesn't matter necessarily. As long as they can be sure that he's healthy otherwise.

This is why some players pass medicals at some clubs and fail at others.

If we sign 2 more CBs+JRod and Morgan, that'll be 6 summer signings, one less than last summer, but we'll see no journos/ex-players having a go at us for it. Interesting how signing homegrown/British players makes such a difference to people's opinions...
No. It had something to do with the £100m+ we spent on seven players. And the Bale saga drew more attention to our transfers.

Feel a bit sorry for @Archibald&Crooks . None of this has anything to do with actual ITK but all this has happened so quickly that this thread has become uncontrollable :p:D.

£30m you reckon? Wow, that much for Schniederlin and a player who's just done his cruciate?
Considering Schneiderlin was quoted at £27million then I think in this day and age, getting those two players at excellent stages in their development at £30million would represent great long term value for money.

It's also testament to Cortese making verbal promises to players over bonuses & then when Cortese is given the boot Katherina Liebherr tells them there not getting them. Pochettino has made them a fortune because without him those players are only worth a fraction of what Scousehampton & the Goons paid however Pochettino leaving isn't the reason they want out.

Players bonuses are not legal if they are not in contracts under FA/UEFA/FIFA rules as I understand it

We do currently have a fetish for double signings from the same club.

....not that I'm complaining.

For his system...I would say these two were the most vital components, yes.

This is post Bale era, hence players valuation has gone up.
£30m still buys you a World Class player, lets put a bit of perspective on this. J-Rod is effectively worth a couple of million in his current condition, so we would be paying well over the odds for Schniederlin. For that kind of money I'd want a player that really is a stand out talent. Anyway, lets see what the fee really is before we continue the debate (y)
