Years ago £10-15m would get you the likes of Berbatov and Modric, these days it will get your distinctly average players from around Europe. If we're willing to spend some money I would rather we pillage the championship of their young talent (Hughes (Derby), Mowatt (Leeds), Redmond (Norwich), Bryam (Leeds), Wilson (Bournemouth) etc.

I really like this idea. We'd need some experienced players to help them of course, but I'd rather gamble on players like these than over-hyped players from other leagues.

I think it indicates we are happy to let him leave for free, so in effect he is available on a bosman a year early. He'll get a big signing on fee, big wages, and wont be a year older with another year out of the spotlight.

Be very good news if he does move on now.

Unless Benteke wants to leave (which I assume could be very likely), there's no reason why Villa would really want Adebayor. Things might change if Benteke can continue this form under Sherwood and view the next season as his chance to really make himself in the EPL with Sherwood and Villa. I wouldn't be surprised if a bigger club comes in for Benteke, though. Especially as it seems he may be over the Achilles injury.

I'm sure Villa fans will be delighted with that! :ROFLMAO:

There's actually a sizable contingent of them who have been advocating a sale of Benteke for awhile now so as to spread the quality and investment into the rest of the squad, especially since Lerner has made it clear that he won't.

Knowing our luck we'll agree to offload him to Villa and get Benteke coming the other only for Villa to be relegated in the 93rd minute of the final game. Adebayor then pulls the plug on the deal and we end up losing out on Benteke. Not that I'm pessimistic or anything.

Wherever that gilet goes, it's going to want Ade with it

Sherwood does love himself some Adebayor though.

No, knowing our luck we'd get Benteke and he'd be absolute dogshit, whilst Adebayor goes on a rampage and scores 40 goals in a season

I don't think we'll spend the kind of money it would take to get Benteke on a striker as long as we have Kane.

Pretty sure Spurs will try to do just that IF Soldado and Adebayor can be pushed out.

I think if we do, it'll be another young/unproven striker. And even so, I don't think Benteke would agree to come with Kane being so clearly the No 1 and us being incapable of guaranteeing Champions League.

Yeah, it is gonna be a tough sell as is to get Ings to come in as the back-up, how much more Benteke unless we play a two-striker system :ROFLMAO:
