I don't get what the benefit to kane is for signing a new contract (if he wants to go) even with a release clause in it, he has 3 years left on his current contract, each day passes his value decreases.

Can someone please explain how the club is in a stronger position by having him sign a new contract with a release clause? Above just accepting a bid we are happy with either this year or next.

Thanks,

Dim from Devon.

Because we get to have the best striker in the world playing for us for at least one more season? ?‍♂️

Would rather we sell him now and get on with rebuilding then inserting a release clause that basically is a ticking time bomb being played out at city's schedule

Good to hear that there two potential outcomes here. New contract will hopefully keep him happy and restore harmony in the camp too.

I don’t like the way Kane has gone about things but if anyone has earnt the right to forgive and move on it’s him. He’s a top top striker and the club have let him down by not showing enough ambition. New contract would be welcome as long as the clauses protect the club as much as the player

I'm fickle enough to call HK a snake for how he acted during the last few months, I'm fickle enough to completely forget about it if he signs a new contract.

Whatever happens I am absolutely confident in Fab getting the job done with regards to shaping our roster.

Well Dim for Devon. If the clause is for say £160m then that’s the minimum fee.
The financial troubles may continue in which case there will be no takers - or they could blow over in which case clubs in Europe might come in and offer more. Lever would be astute enough to have a lower clause off foreign clubs.

Additionally we get to keep the best striker in the premiership for another season. We may have another poor season and we’d sell for the release clause or have a great season and he’ll want to stay.

Wouldn’t that be the case if we decide not to sell him?

Yes, but the key difference in that scenario is Kane is unhappy, sulking and likely not at his best. You’d also have the press going on and on and on about potential moves. Whereas in a world where he signs a contract, he’s committed and accepting of his role at the club.

Probably best taking any further chat about it to the player thread now though.

dragon1 said: regarding HK
they withdrew the fine after initial discussions with Harry sat

What I was told was that he asked for the extra time off and was told no but still took it anyway

The club let the story run as they have been livid largely with Charlie , harry annoyed them with the neville interview pre the villa game when we had a chance of cl or Uefa football he also pissed the dressing room off

Charlie has been leaking to there media the sun showbiz thing was all him as were all the sky and other media stuff , Daniel had had enough

Paul miller is very well connected both with the club and certain players in this case he is giving a statement from the Kane families side of things , the biggest thing you should take from that is that the Kane family are open to discussing a new deal with spurs

I can say with some certainty that one of two things will happen between now and the 23rd of Aug , either Kane will be sold for 160 million plus and Fab will have a good week to spend it in the window or Kane will sign a massive contract I do not believe the club want to do this all over again next summer its not good for Kane or Spurs

"Paul miller is very well connected both with the club and certain players in this case he is giving a statement from the Kane families side of things , the biggest thing you should take from that is that the Kane family are open to discussing a new deal with spurs"

Paul has posted a response on his business LinkedIn page and states that the club were aware of Harry's time off, and that he was at Joe's place in the Bahamas. He did as Bubble's states also add a sentence that club should offer Harry another contract.

Interesting.

Charlie gets to do something positive with his time rather than bleating on the phone to The Sun showbiz column. He’s clearly got a ‘big boy desk’ and now gets a chance to use it.

Fucking hell. Imagine doing everything you can to leave the club you're employed by only to be rewarded with a new contract?! Then you have the likes of Son who signs a contract no questions asked. Doesn't sit well with me.

We all know this wont go away next season. Just sell him now. So over talking about him and his nobhead brother.

It feels all very odd, the noises about a new contract.

It's like they know city won't come in for him, so he wants me more money on a bumper contract with a release clause so city can still get him.

Never thought I would feel the way I do about Kane but if he stays I'm not bothered and the same goes if he's sold

If they're not willing to pay £160m for a 28 year old now, I don't see them ever paying that much, ever. It's there to put a number on it, but if he signs a new contract he'll only be leaving on our terms - and by that, I don't mean the release fee, I see it as he's probably not leaving unless we decide we want him to.

If the Clause is 160mil, that's not the minimum, it's the maximum.
If he has a clause stating he can leave if a club offers 160mil, no one is going to offer more than they have to
