He will be sold if the right money is offered, old cliche in life, money talks!

And for these reasons:

1) Ok, he has said he is willing to stay, but he also wants to go to Chelsea if he could. He has said this all of this, if he didnt want to go, why say anything at all. Given the free, no consequence choice, he would rather be at Chelski! FACT

2) If he has an average or poor season, because of all this transfer talk, not wanting to be at THFC, us not performing, or just because he is having one. His value will be 10-20m less next year, FACT (kinda)

3) Daniel Levy is a businessman first, football fan second. £30 - £50 mil, is a profit on what we paid, and alot of money for one player. He will cash in why the iron is hot and before the new money rules come in. THFC will not suffer moneywise no matter how furious we all will be if he is sold. There will still be 36k at WHL each game this season, FACT (kinda)

4) Ok, it will hamper our CL quest without him no doubt, but DL can also argue that we didnt qualify this season with him. FACT

5) One player is not bigger than the club FACT

6) DL will issue a statement if he is sold citing the same reasons as Berbatov, Keane and Carrick, in best interests of club. FACT (kinda)

7) And if in DL we trust, then let the man do what he gotta do

COYS

No mate, we won't be able to trust in DL. Not if your information is right. Because his position is untenable the minute he sells Modric. We can't force him out, but the fact is that he will no longer be able to negotiate if he does this. And Levy without the ability to negotiate is just a bald little man with a wife on tranquilizers. He is effectively done as a chairman, because of the wording of his statement. He goes back on it and nobody will take his word seriously. So I hope your happy with your statement, because it means we will exist with a lame duck chairman that will not be leaving anytime soon. If Levy sells Modric, we will never succeed with him at the helm again. That's how fucked he would be if he went back on that unequivocal denial.

I, however, don't believe Levy to be that stupid. If he's smart, he'll sack your mate for saying such crap. We can live without him.

We already have the replacements lined up and to think that we havent is laughable- Fact

5) One player is not bigger than the club FACT FACT

You are right

7) And if in DL we trust, then let the man do what he gotta do

Difficult for Harry as we need to spend and Levy doesn't really want to but Harry going on Sky will have ramped up Daniel massively and the pressure is back on for him to back Harry. Harry wants the big star players up front to push us on and so does Levy but he also wants to do deals all the time and is concerned about the business side.

spot on post!!

1) there is no way back from this statement for Levy

in todays world of PR Spin, there is always a way

2) modric said prior to Levy making the said statement he wanted to go (daily fail being trusted) so modric saying he wants to go again will make zero difference
An offical transfer request is alot different than paper talk

3) he will be worth just as much next year so we may as well at least try to get champs league again with him for this season

possible true, but equally he could be worth less or more in 12 months

4) chelsea arent gonna pay £50m (imo)
IMO i think you are right, but i also think they could

5) there is simply nobody better we could even hope to attract, its simply not worth the money we would get to us...either finacially or footballing wise
agreed

when Levy says "not for sale at any price" & "we will not entertain any offer from chelsea or any other club"...& "we consider the matter closed"

ITS CLOSED
I honestly do not think this is true, for anything, where there is a will there is a way

Just to join the "whos head is in the sand" What if Modric did put in an offical transfer request ala Tevez. Would those of you who are so adamant that he wont be sold, still feel so strongly (100%)on that? tbh i think that plus circa 50mil, would give levy a get out of his statement

On a side note, whilst i believe cfc could and well might pay circa 50mil. I actually think they wont and Mod will be with us for the start of the season. my point was, between the 2 camps of head in sand, is the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

For those who is willing to let Modric leave for 50 million, fine.
I am glad none of you are managing or running the club.
Levy is who he is now because he thinks differently, see things differently from the people who will sell Modric for 50 millions or more.
Many people outside also believe Levy's word, which is why there is hardly anymore substantial reports of bids for Modric.

Tedious

Nothing imminent

So frustrating.

But then when you have worked through the night, burning the midnight oil to beat football's elite for Brad Friedel I guess we need to take five minutes, have a breather and take stock. Then, and only then, can we strike!

Nobody will be able to trust Daniel Levy if he sells Modric. He has gone on the OS not once, but twice saying no key players will be sold this summer - black and white. Anything he says in future would be nothing more than words if he did go back on that, it is as simple as that.

We did...kinda:shifty:

Now...I want to finish above them in the league. If that is more achievable because they have lost their best players...all to the good, for me:wink:

I don't care what the circumstances are. They are the Scum and I want to beat them whether they are at their best, their worst, fast asleep, in another Country ................. Beating them is all good regardless.

Let's face it, they've been giving it the biggun about their 'superiority' for the last decade or so when we have spent the vast majority of that time recovering from virtual bankruptcy.

If they were lying on the ground, mewling and begging for mercy I'd still give them a beating just on general principles.
