I wish we would just go all out this window. We need to try to make that 4th spot ours. People will say that we are trying to bed in enough players already, but we do still need some extra quality in a couple of positions.
I think everyone agrees that LB is a priority. No other additions are urgently needed to the rest of the defense. Luke Shaw is the player I would want the most for the position, given that he is very young and English, but that also means that he will be overpriced and we can get (currently) better options for less money. Coentrao, Rodriguez, Criscito, or Sorg would be good options imo.
I think a striker is also on most people's lists. Hopefully we can get rid of Defoe and Adebayor and get someone else top quality up front, who can either play up front on their own or next to Soldado. Ideally someone as well who could play on the left side of the attack in a 4-3-3. I think Max Kruse checks all the boxes, especially the ability to play off of and link up with Soldado. Diego Costa would be the dream signing though imo. I would also be happy with Pato, although it would be a bit of a risk since his form has dipped in Brazil. Javier Hernandez would be a good signing as well but I doubt he and Soldado could play together.
A bonus would be signing a left winger, but there are plenty out there who would improve us. Koke and Griezmann come to mind.
If I had it my way we would pay what it takes to get Diego Costa, Koke, and one (or both) of Sorg or Rodriguez (either of whom wouldn't cost an arm and a leg). Probably take 50 million but it would improve us immensely plus we can still sell a few players to make some of the money back.
