I think some users have posted that an official bid is pretty much the last thing that happens in a deal, as typically the two parties negotiate to agree a deal before it is made "formal".

Sounds like a semantics argument to me. Chelsea's 'bid' for Rooney is being described as a 'bid' even though it appears it was the first shot across the bows in that transfer.

Yet we're supposedly down to arguing about the selling-on percentage and we haven't made a 'bid'?

Like I said school mate, I see him once in a blue moon now, so I don't have his phone number. I can try to start a bit of a text chain to find out if people are that desperate to know.

He won't do the Liverpool one though as it would probably get him sacked

Is Benteke coming to spurs? nobob has a clue, will it cost 20m? is DL trying his best? is DL having sleepless nights? are we on the verg of world domination? nobob has a clue.

It seems like over time our transfer activities are going to be much more difficult if we dont have financial muscle to back us. Previously we were buying 10m+ players, now we are aiming for 20m+ players.

As we are getting better, it is going to cost much more to improve our squad, hence the benteke of this world costing 20m, next year it will be 30m to improve on that. Then the TF window will be a drag as we have grown to expect spurs to buy buy buy.

Dude, seriously?

Waddle, Lineker and Gazza signed for us in the 1980's when Spurs were a decent side and the chasm that exists financially between us and the big guns simply didn't exist then. The facilities at clubs would have all been on a reasonably level footing.
Kinsmann was a great signing but that was 1994 and as we've seen today with Villa, those romantic signings rarely occur any more.
Bale was a child when he signed. Do you believe for one moment that we'd sign today's Gareth Bale with our current stadium and our old training facilities? He'd laugh at us before going to United.
When we signed Ginola he was excluded from the France team that went on to win the world cup and euros. He was great for us and a joy to watch but in the grand scheme of things, at the time, he wasn't exactly a world beater. Just a very good player.

Or maybe, I just accept that the information in the ITK threads is far from fact and that each person is going to garner a different opinion from it AND that it might be ok if some of those opinions aren't the same as mine, no matter how factual I believe the 'information' that I base my opinions on, to be.

Lol mayb not the liverpool one! But would be interested to find out if true would be worth a bet if the odds are gd lol!

Now back onto the ITK topic before A&C gets his toys out

Have finally just caught up on 21 pages and my onions on today's ITK; we all moan about what Real are or aren't doing with Bale and his sale through the media, the fact it's terrible and who the hell do they think they are, he's worth more than that etc etc... and yet what are we doing with Benteke?

He's not worth £25million blah blah blah! We value bale at what £100million because that's what he worth to us as a team and a club and he's our star man, the same as Benteke is to Villa. At the end of the day Levy is charged with getting the best deal for Spurs the same is Lerner is for Villa, if Benteke is to rich for us then Levy will walk away, there are other strikers out there.

Hopefully we will get him in, but I won't be having a meltdown if not!
