Defoe as a sub was excellent last season. were we to sell him then we would need Adebayor plus 2 other strikers.

Anyone else getting that feeling we'll be seeing a fair bit of Gio next season? Maybe AVB likes him, and has had a word in his ear. I just can't see us selling both him and Defoe, and getting Ade + 2 more strikers in. Got a feeling Gio will be one of our 3 strikers, obviously the wider sitting one.

Isn't he on the last year of his contract? If so, we might know if he's for us if he gets an extension.

Very twitchy about us moving Defoe on until we've got one or two other strikers fully signed up and pictured waving the scarf. Hardly puts us in a strong negotiating position with other clubs does it?

I've stopped. *guilty-caught-in-the-headlights-face* it's on! Come on JD - sod off (to reading) mate!

We need to have a SC intervention here, you're out of control!!

Hope he does go to Reading (or wherever) and we bring in Ade, another #9, and a wing forward though!

No Bergy, READING ONLY! :p Intervention: In the middle of the 1st half of our first home game six stewards head towards long haired dope in block 42, backed up by multiple concerned SC'ers... Said long haired dope screams as he's being dragged off "Nooooo, I need to make sure we're leading at half time for my bet to come offfffffff!"

6/4 on Willy Hill

yeah but had "cash" in victor accnt and switching between the two would've taken 3-5 days I think. The wonders of the modern age.

besides I think, if he's truly been talking to them - and we've no reason to think the goat is wrong - they'll know they have to offer him a sweet deal to go there, they won't eff around with a lame contract now they've got Russian money... staying up this year will require goals that an in-form JD will get if he gets consecutive match time. I can see him going.

We better not sell Defoe before we get 2 more strikers in.
Yes, and I think AVB might play more of our youngsters than H did as well. Got a horrible niggly feeling Bentley will play as well.
I'm sure AVB is willing to give players a chance to impress regardless of their past form. However, Bentley doesn't have the pace to suit the wide positions of AVBs team. The only hope I think he has is if he adapts to a more central role in a central 3. I still can't see it though. Plus I think if we receive a respectable bid for him i'm sure we'll take the money and add it to our transfer funds instead.

Hmmm.

33/1 top scorer. IF he moves and has first team footie I think he'd guaranteed at least 18.

With the incomings we have already have and, we believe, more to come plus a new manager, it could easily motivate Bentley, JJ and GDS to try their damndest to fit in. I certainly looks as though AVB wants to continue playing fast attractive football and if he rotates the team more than H did there could genuinely be a place for them. The big issue is whether they are really up for it, if not, then they can go and sell a few copies of the Big Issue. Sorry about that one!

Jenas' high energy style could actually fit our system well.

The few times when he hasn't been absolute shite show a perfect CM for AVB's system.

Agreed. Although it may suggest we have something very close and I mean on top of Ade who seems close to finalisation. I think we'll have Ade, a back up, Kane and a wide forward if possible. If we only play one up top then VDV and then Gylfi play as nominal back ups too. So that gives us 6 players for 2 positions say...
