So we're finally getting Dave after all these years of haggling.

Afraid not, they want full asking price of £57 and 7 vienettas to share amongst the team.. Levy only bid £37 and 4 vienettas. He's signing for Kidderminster Harriers who payed full price.

All I know is... I met my guy on Saturday night, we watched the Germany Italy game... he said most likely striker signing right now was Janssen.... he's not on transfer committee but he works at club and generally gets stuff right. Certainly not a bullshitter and mostly refrains from backing transfers, mainly because as Edmonton says it's way too fluid and 75% of stuff doesn't work out.

Given the above, I still believe we will sign him.'

Personally I'm astonished that our dear leader is dragging out a seeming 'cheap' signing this long.......we really are arguing about £2.50 now. The lad clearly wants to come and AZ want a fair fee!

Chelsea aren't the only club who can dive in at the last minute, this will likely go to TDD :grumpy:

Well it kinda went from 12m to 17m in a heartbeat so not really that "cheap" anymore.

I know I can never understand it! The upfront fee he was probably willing to pay Batshit (although less than everyone else) was probably more than the Janssen deal altogether. So I never see the need to haggle as much as he does.

Do you mean 'we' offered £12M and the actual asking price was £16.5M?

If I offer you £15 for your semi-detached house, you'll be damn unreasonable by asking for the £450K it's worth using that logic.

We are a financially we'll run club, but Poch must eventually start to wonder why we can't get 'his' transfer targets over the line and end up with Louis Saha on deadline day.....

So glad you aren't doing the negotiating on behalf of Spurs. But then it is always easy spending someone else's money. Things like value for money, cash flow, comparable cost of alternatives, etc., don't have to matter. Just spend whatever and don't worry about the consequences.

Youve hit the nail on the head here but not in the way you think.

You can say its generated by other means these days, which is right to a degree, but i still feel it is our money he plays with. By being so risk averse he actually creates risk. Credit to him for growing enics stake to millions of times greater than initial investment, but some feel the value of janssens early integration and preseason is greater than the amount he is actually haggling over.

Well reportedly the asking price was somewhere between £12-13m and suddenly rose to 17-18m after we failed to land Batshuayi. That is only the figures thrown around in the press so I know just about as much as you do but this childish Levy-hate is getting a bit tiresome. Just as you pointed out, we are a well run club and that is because we do not pay over the odds for players.

Being a "well run club" doesn't just mean not paying over the odds, it means a million other things as well. Sometimes, refusing to pay a million or two over the odds isn't being "well run", it can in some instances be false economy. Have you never heard the term "penny wise and pound foolish"?
