Ah don't get me started. Could have signed Schneiderlin, or similar, and played him alongside either Dier or Dembele and replaced either one very easily.

I submit to you if we'd signed Schneiderlin, we'd never have known how good Dier is in the DM role.

The internationals don't start preseason for another 2 or 3 weeks.

We've only got 1 signing left to complete, which sounds like it's in the very final stages of bartering

You should not take too much notice of such things we cant take it as gospel regarding our transfer activity.
I dont take too much notice of it i just sit idly in the background letting the club get on with it, i suggest you do the same mate it pointless to resist.

Funny, I heard he signed for palace...

As for schneiderlin, makes sense. I was wondering if we wouldn't go back in for him given how poorly he was used by LVG. Shame Jose rates him. Ah well, water under the bridge and all that.

I do expect a couple more... Think other than striker we still want a young keeper, but we hopefully will have Pritchard coming through, so other than perhaps another CB, I'm not sure who else we will go for.

We know exactly how good Dier is in the DM role. No one's taking his place for years.

But forza is saying if we got schneiderlin before we moved dier to midfield then we wouldn't have seen dier in midfield

You dont think Schneiderlin and Dier could partner together like Schneiderlin and Carrick? They're really not the same player. We wont sign Schneiderlin but I fancy Bentaleb would do well alongside either Dier or Wanyama.

I think @Forza Huddlestone was more suggesting that, had we signed Schneiderlin, it's more likely that Dier wouldn't have been used as a DM?

Sorry that was my confusion. Why they were talking about signing him last season though I don't know.

But I'm suggesting Schneiderlin isn't necessarily a defensive midfielder. I think we were looking at him at a time when it wasn't clear whether Dembele was good enough or fit enough to be a regular. Maybe it's more likely Dembele wouldn't have excelled had we signed him. I think Dier would have played there regardless because he's perfectly suited to the role. I can't see a player like Schneiderlin slotting between the 2 centre backs like Dier does. For balance I think it's better for us to have Dier or Wanyama alongside Dembele/Bentaleb/Mason and Schneiderlin would have replaced Bentaleb/Mason to compete more directly with Dembele.
