:eek:mg: So I don't post much, as i tend to only express my opinion when something provokes me.

Anyway here goes. I've been lurking around on here for the past few days and stumbled upon the transfer rumours part of this forum just yesterday, of course some of the names people were linking us with on here were very amusing on what seemed like an hectic day, but the reactions of some people is just embarrasing. I've been hearing people calling for Harry's head, Also talking about Harry's incompetence in the transfer market, oh and lest we forget, Harry's out of his depth in this half of the table :eh:. Is this the same Harry Redknapp that has taken us to a cup final? 4th place finish? and the last 16 of the worlds most elite club tournament? i found myself thinking, no it can't be, so to stumble back on here and see the same sh*t being bandied about is just shocking. I hear a lot of people also criticise Daniel Levy for his seemingly poor tactics in the transfer market, again is this the same Daniel Levy who got top monies for the likes of Berbatov, Carrick, Keane and probably a good few others? and allegedly signed VDV for a mere 8 million pound? This talk is nonsense and i'm amazed that its even being spoken about. Yes i do agree with everybody else on the fact that we could have done with a striker, but have never really felt it was a major problem area as we had (until yesterday) 4, (although the stats do prove me completely wrong) i feel that the 3 we still have at the club have plenty of goals in them. All i'm trying to say is we got 4th last season with almost the same team as we have now, the only difference is we have made an improvement to our midfield by signing VDV, although some see this as detrimental, also it would be naive to think that Harry doesn't already know what the team is lacking, it would also be naive to think that we haven't already scouted or are scouting players who fit the bill, the answer is not buying players in the winter at overinflated prices, because that is all this shoddy window represents, or has the Darren Bent/Andy Carroll deals taught you nothing?

Is it a formality that Charlie Adam signs for Spurs in the next window? As I understand it we missed out on him by two minutes waiting for the all the Blackpool board members to sign the agreement. They did all sign albeit two minutes too late. Does that mean the signed agreement comes into effect in the next window?

You have to wonder how things work though when in Redklnapp's own words (last night on SSN) he says " well Daniel rang me and said what d'you think of Charlie Adam, and i said ye he's a good player i like Charlie so the chairman says i think we might be able to do a deal, so we were going to give it a try but with like four minutes to go to the end of the window we needed a couple of their board members to sign some paper work so it didnt happen" (or words to that effect).

Which all makes me think WTF??? It's not like your Mrs being at the supermarket and calling you to say "Alright love what do you reckon of lamb chops for tea...ye i love lamb chops....ok i think i can get a good deal at the supermarket......excellent....but the shops closing in five minutes so got to get to the checkout....bye!

What kind of strategy is that for buying fucking players.....seriously!! Stick to the shopping list.....if you bloody have one!

It does make you wonder doesn't it, almost like a panic buy to get someone, anyone, to appease the fans. When in reality it wouldn't have anyway. I've not seen enough of him to know if he's any good, but he's not the the marque signing is he.

I'm assuming it's nul and void, but perhaps there is a 'gentlemens agreement' in principle for the transfer of Charlie Adam in the summer's window.

On what basis would it be null and void? I can only think there's a caveat in the agreement that transfer must happen between a certain time.

Harry was asked on talksport whether we'll go back in for him in the summer, he didn't exactly sound thrilled by the idea. This window has made the club look like complete amateurs.

ok so it wasn't the best of transfer windows, but like a lot of people said we have a squad that is capable of getting into the CL again! They did it last year, so we have to believe they can do it again ! i know other teams have improved there squads but that still doesn't mean we can get into the top 4, to dare is to do ! keep the faith lads ! COYS.

I don't think the right sort of player was available.

All the strikers we allegedly looked at wouldn't have quite fitted.

I have no qualms about Levy and Harry not going overboard with a target who isn't exactly what we need.

The only things that sour the transfer window, and Harry and Levy's performance, was the low blow Neville bid and trying at the last minute to sign Charlie Adam. The way we went about those 2 bids seems very amateur.

Not sure that i agree with you, our team as it stands is one that challenges for the Europa League at best, in real terms we have gone backwards.

Yes the team got CL last year, facts don't lie, but shitty were poor compared to today, Liverpool have also bought to improve and time will tell whether they are challengers. If anything it is us v pool for 5th with the scraggers like sunderland nipping at our heels.

What pisses most of us off, is that we achieved CL (whilst what we hoped, probably more than we expected), but we needed to use this as the builing block, the way to tempt the big game players who wouldn't look at us twice.

Have we done this NO, to think we expect to be challenging for the title and be looking at Phil Neville and Charlie Adam is a joke, both are good decent PL quality pros, but they are not the level of player that will secure a top 4 finish or challenge for the title. full stop.

Personally, i suspect Redknapp has taken us further than one could have hoped, and for this we should be gratefull. Yes he will pull off big wins ala Inter Milan game, but he always has been able to in one offs like when he was at Spammers or Pompey, but we actually want more, and i worry Harry may have met his ceiling.

My problem with not improving is that actually standing still is going backwards, and if we don't finish the season well, what it will lead onto i fear is those teams that are willing to speculate, will take our best players. And i don't fancy a life with out Bale, VDV & modric because you will not replace these easily and not to any similar standard without the big fees that we seem loathed to pay.

I just don't see how it can be a binding agreement to transfer Adam over to us carried forward to the start of the summer transfer window - end of the day the move didn't materialise so I would assume we'd have to negotiate the transfer again from scratch.

That being said I don't see the requirement for Adam but that's a different story.

Interesting that, now the window has closed, most of the hang 'em, flog 'em, shoot 'em brigade are absent and a more moderate, balanced set of views are being expressed today.

Strange way to look at it. But if your shopping list contains fillet steak and when your wife realises that the price of fillet steak has doubled overnight then she'll phone with an alternative so you'll at least get something.

However, if she comes home with fillet steak regardless of the price then your over the moon but be pissed off that you havent got any money for the rest of the month.

I fully expect us to go into hibernation for the next 7 months and have the same happen again with a few days of the summer window left.

LOL. Granted, a flaw in the analogy but ultimately it's a choice between a quality piece of meat at an over inflated price, or a poor substitute (lets say sausages ). You decline the steak and tell her to stick the sausages cos you got a fridge load already!!

anyone got the free agent list surely there could be gem in there

This list does need updating somewhat, however....

Milan, meanwhile, have a telling list of names set to become free agents this summer including Clarence Seedorf, Marek Jankulovski, Pippo Inzaghi Massimo Ambrosini, Alessandro Nesta and Andrea Pirlo

Notable names entering the final six months of deals include Andrea Barzagli, Mario Santana, Vicente, Johan Elmander, Paolo Cannavaro, Marco Di Vaio, David Suazo, Alessandro Del Piero, Simone Perrotta, Nicola Legrottaglie, Dario Srna, Igor Akinfeev, Steven Pienaar, Miroslav Klose, Mark Van Bommel, Branislav Ivanovic, Urby Emanuelson and Peter Trochowski.

I would take Srna/Akinfeev maybe. Van Bommel, Emanuelson are gone.

Pirlo hasn't played well since World Cup 2006.
