He has said, more than once, that the Premier League is the best league in the world and he wants to return. No other PL clb would come close to offering him a better oppotunity than us.

I'm not sure though, he necessarily made that as a blanket statement. He probably said that with some conditions not verbalised. He's not going to just manage the highest placed Prem team that sacks their manager. His CV is good enough for him to manage any of the top 4 teams really and I'm sure, if he does come back he'll be managing one of them when they sack their manager.

Saying that, I'd love him at Spurs but with the same reservations as those above... can he develop a team with potential? He has recently had the fortune of managing moneybags teams.

Atletico winning doesn't give me any doubts about Ancelotti.

They are an irresistible force this season, an amazing blend of teamwork and tactics with a high quality of players to boot through a perfect transfer strategy. They have caught teams cold this season and defeated all in front of them. Chelsea, Barca, Madrid etc

I'm surprised about these Ancelotti links. I'll be amazed if he would consider us, assuming he gets the sack if RM lose. We offer no Champions' League, a very limited budget compared to his recent past and a team with only two established stars in Lloris and Paulinho (eriksen may soon join that list).

All true....but apparently wants to manage in England again and there are only so many teams you can go to in the upper half of the table.

Aresenal have Wenger, United have LVG, Chelsea have Mou, City have Pelligrini, LFC have Rodgers....none of whom are likely to leave in the coming months...Everton don't have the cash neither do Soton, NUFC may have the money but won't spend it.....really just leaves us.

Not convinced that we can get him, but i would imagine IF (and it as BIG IF) we are actually waiting to see how it plays out with him (as opposed to what the other option is the more likely and less exciting option of just working through the contract details with Poch/FdB) then there would have been some informal conversations between people on our side and people on his side (Baldini working the Italian connections?) to judge if it would even be a possibility if all the stars aligned.

The stars would probably have to align for us to land Carlo but can't fault us for potentially waiting to see if we could ask the question.

Damn man.

Unlike some, I genuinely think he would come to us. He has been Levy's no1 infatuation for a good while now imo and we know Levy has tried to get in that type before - Mourinho, LVG.

I genuinely think Ancelotti loved the PL and living in London In particular and would've come.

Ancelotti just gone from a run of the mill manager to the greatest of them all in a matter of seconds - RM haven't even won the match yet!

I think Martinez has been the mystery '3rd man' this time, not Ancelotti.

Ancelotti was unemployed and dossing around London for a year not that long ago and Levy didn't move for him.

I'm not saying it's better to wait, just no need to panic. It will take days and a chat or two to identify targets, remember we never buy till damn late in the window anyway!

The last couple of summer windows we have had some early buys and really where possible it has to be better to get players early so thet can have a full pre season to give them a better chance of gelling.

Granted there's no point rushing and making the wrong call, but we should have had coach options prioritised from the time we were thinking about getting rid of AVB.

There's a fine line to be drawn between rushing decisions too quickly and too slowly, the trouble with buying players is that plenty of other clubs can beat you to the punch on preferred targets while waiting on decisions
