Given we are probably staggering payments for both Lamela & Eriksen, these deals are not straightforward when you consider the volatility of the Euro.

That goes for Bale to Madrid as well. Any 100M Euro deal can easily change from 85m it would be today to more like 80M by the time the payment is completed if we do not 'hedge' the risk.

That's what fx forwards are for....

Joe Lewis pulled off some of the greatest FX trades by individual speculators in history....he has access

So it seems it was the Madrid players to Arsenal thing that delayed it a little. Good. On the flip side, I expect Arsenal to sign a couple of worldies now (from Madrid and elsewhere) but at least they won't be in the squad for Sunday.

6 excellent players in, transfer record broken 3 times. More to come. Amazing window. Unbelievable.

Edit - just re-read my post and in case it isn't clear, I meant it looks like we purposely delayed the announcements as long as we could so the knock on affect doesn't affect the NLD.

Yeah, Lewis does know the odd trick when it comes to currencies. Another reason for the delay and I think this transfer is in safe hands financially

Wonder what the difference in £ would be between a figure of Eur100m at the bigging of the window and that same figure today

My balls are tingling with happiness, what a signing! Can't wait till he gets on the pitch for us.

Never thought we'd have a window like this even with Bale leaving.

cant see many Madrid players leaving to go to the goons tbh, Di Maria wants to stay so does Ozil, maybe Kaka?

We are near top of 3 month range.

Maybe the transfer is in sterling and Fx risk is on their side though

According to a quick google on rates, about £500k (1.16 @ July 1st vs 1.17 today) so not that much considering it's £85m
