Why would Atlanta Yid's "man" need to come all the way over here for the deal to happen?

Darren Eales (the club's lawyer) spent a decade in the US as a player. Perhaps that's where he holidays and is being recalled?

You've obviously never signed an important financial document/contract. Such things do NOT get processed unless there's a man present, naked, with a 14inch tallywhacker, painted all over in edible gold, wearing spikey high heeled shoes with a mohican ponytail haircut dyed shocking pink. It's a specialist role.

I would much rather see Daniel Levy oiled up and gilded for this task. With the addition of Baldini in a gimp suit on a leash.

Didn't Atlantayid say that Lewis got wind of Poch's qualities via Argentina? Maybe they've gone there to sign the deal?
Ardiles could have them all over for tea. :)

Reading the posts on the Saints forum, it looks like a lot of their fans are pissed off with us for enticing Poch.

I wonder if they'll hire Sherwood as Poch's replacement to get their revenge. :cautious:

They used to be the SCBC under Wupert. Not sure if they are anymore....

Apparently he already had an interview at Brighton and completely blew it by being a gobby, arrogant billy big balls (in other words himself). I can see him struggling to get a job.

Norwich overlooked him too.

His best mate is the Swindon chairman. I think that's where he could end up.

I can vouch for this. I've signed off many important documents.

Doubt will start straight away, reckon will go on Holiday once been announced

There will be few transfers until the end of the WC in my opinion anyway as there is a massive body of talent that are not available to talk terms etc. In WC years you get one or two done before (generally those that are out of contract) and then July/August is where most deals happen. For those players that are not at the WC they are probably already in Dubai or the likes anyway so won't start the process of moves until they get back. This is why i haven't been in as much of a rush as most to get the new guy in as the month after the season finishes is always quiet.

LVG was a complete no brainer. He was available, wanted to come to England and is a top tier manager. However, man utd were a bigger fish and we lost out. There is no one else of lvg's stature available so what are we supposed to do - hang around with a caretaker hoping that the stars align so we get another pop? I don't see how it could have worked out any differently in terms of the type of manager we are going for?

Benitez. Only speculation but he was keen to come back to the PL. It's not often we get the chance to have such a successful manager come to us, but we generally prefer the riskier "project" type manager. Let's hope the latest project doesn't get binned at the first sign of trouble.

I'm disappointed we didn't go all out for Benitez but I wasn't convinced by De Boer so I'm not too upset with Poch. I look forward to better quality football and more intense performances but I don't hold out any hope of getting in the top four and I think people (Inc Levy) would do well to adjust their expectations accordingly. Unless of course we make 4 or 5 quality additions to the squad, but I can't see that happening.

The thinking seems to be that Poch will revolutionize our squad, teach Dembele how to pass, give Soldado pace and strength etc and we will do a Liverpool.

I can't see it. Love to be wrong.

The foodchain reinstated itself.

We've got the most exciting young manager in the league. It's what we have to do. Just like we have to buy the most exciting up-and-coming players around (Modric, Bale, Eriksen), rather than those already at their peak

I was originally in the FDB camp after LVG became an impossibility, but having read more about Pochettino I'm coming around to the idea, and I can see why it looks like Levy has chosen him over the Dutchman.

I think both are great coaches, and have the advantage of tactical acumen and a history of bringing players through from the youth team and improving them. Both are probably good choices, and I think FDB would have been the surer choice in the short term (due to his reputation from his playing days) but with two longer term disadvantages. One is that due to his reputation, we could have appointed him, had a season or two of relative success and then had him poached by Barca or similar. This could happen to Poch as well but only if he does sensationally well - FDB has a higher visibility and seems more overtly ambitious, so I think he would move on earlier.

Poch also seems more adaptable and forward-thinking in his tactics. FDB has Ajax playing a certain way , and by and large that's what they play for almost all opposition, with new players coming into the system when others are sold. Poch on the other hand shows a bit more flexibility in his thinking, and seems more willing to adapt his system to the players at his disposal and the opposing team. I can see why that appeals to Levy - To borrow American draft lingo, FDB has a higher 'floor' and perhaps less downside risk, but Poch seems like he could have a higher longterm 'ceiling' - or better potential to grow as a coach.

I've also been impressed by the kind of team-building Poch does, and the amount the Soton players seem to really love playing for him. Add all that to FDB's warning signs in the way he deals with the media, and I can see why this makes logical sense for us. I still think Poch is the riskier choice in the short term, but I am also beginning to suspect he may give us a bigger reward going further forward.

I'm prepared for disappointment whoever gets the job. I find it saves time.

My nightmare scenario, as I replied to Hap the other day, is that the new manager pisses Ade off and fails to get Soldado scoring from open play.

Thats why Adebayor has to be sold. He's too much of a loose cannon and no where near enough of a team player, which is paramount nowadays.
