What's the cause, and didn't those players who have left originally join to be here and fight whatever cause it is?

Yes. But then they wanted to leave to get first team opportunities. A new bunch of motivated squad players looking to succeed and make an impact at a new club, rather than those who maybe became a bit disolusioned with their role here. Simple motivation of talent

Tbh i can never see hazard signing in a million years will probably follow the money wish he would sign but cant see it!

Remy after he has had a good euros he could be well out of league

Vertonghen i would love but we have took a gamble if it doesnt pay off we will look very silly if it does we will look good!

Leandro it seems as if he or they are messing us around

but when all these players come back from loan like Jenas,Bentley,Bassong,Pienaar,Gio, so on we are back in square one and will then have to wait all summer untill we shift them probably with the excuse the euros have slowed us down then it will be deadline day again and the same will happen again its happend for the last 3 windows

We're hardly doomed, but whatever you might think of Pienaar, he's a hard working, reliable player that has always performed well when given a chance.

I really don't see how loaning him out and not bringing anyone in to fill his place is a positive in any way.

What the fuck happened to our squad depth?

I was joking

Saha don't score goals

But if they did, they'd be the best goals in the world?

Grow up. If you're crying about Pavlyuchenko going (our FOURTH CHOICE STRIKER) then you're being ridiculous.

If you actually watch anything except the 10 minutes in which Spurs are on MOTD you'll have noticed the TYPE of striker that Saha is - i.e. one that busies himself around the pitch. Closing down, holding up the play.

Did you see who scored the goals today? Our former left back and a midfielder who still plays a sweeping role.

This is a team. A team that works by players playing in certain positions forming certain roles. Saha for Adebayor as a substitution fills me with a lot more faith than Pav for Adebayor.

But then, that might not be obvious from 10 minutes of MOTD.

What the fuck happened to our squad depth?

Bale, Lennon, VDV, Modric, Parker, Sandro, Livermore, Kranjcar, Dos Santos

Can all play midfield in some shape or form, with Huddlestone also back next month I believe thats 10 players in midfield. I think we have the depth in personnel.

EDIT: Forgot Danny Rose, make that eleven.

The two contradict themselves when placed in a Spurs context though.

I can name his qualities, thanks, Sean, as ever with the insightful posts, but they don't translate easily to a team such as ours and a way of playing that doesn't suit him.

He was let go because he begged. Begged. How sweet.

Now he'll have as much impact for us as he has done over the past year. And he won't even be anywhere near the club. How sweet is that too?
Didn't we, in a way, beg him to join us, over Chelsea?

I seem to remember it was sold in that way.

I won't be crying in my sleep over his departure, but another in a long line of pointless signings re: 85 million central midfielders and more recently, right backs(the latter of which, all seem to have vanished mysteriously).

I wont lie i was shocked at the names thrown in the ring but they make perfect sense. Free replacements for players who are prob on bigger wages and we have recouped a nice stack of cash from the sale of Pav, Saha will hopefully prove to be a wise move even in his twilight years he will certainly move for the ball good eye for goal apart from his injury record whats not to like its a short term deal so in my eyes we are the winners their. Nielson comes in as 5th choice he wont be kicking up any fuss to play and if needed lets hope he does a solid job again smaller wages compared to Bassong i bet and another short deal WINNER.Pienaar ok im a tad miffed at that but if he was going to cry and moan we dont need that + these loans could again generate money if made perm deals we dont exactly need the players...we should hopefully have the manager problem sorted by the Summer and then plan the next strategy we all praised JJ for his info he also said good things for the summer so lets not be all doom and gloom we are still 3rd stretching those points our 1st 11 are great the likes of Remy and Damiao were not going to move this window theirs not much we can do if their respective clubs dont want to sell or price us out of moving for said player whats Levy expected to do?. We are looking good COYS.

Problem is, improving the first 11. To do that we gotta spend big. Fee and wages. And those players are difficult to get.

So we should be looking to improve our 2nd string, and I'm not sold that we have. What we have done is replace bench warmers with older bench warmers.

Saha, I dunno, could be good, Nelson just confuses me (confirmed yet?).

I guess we have made a profit, and not lost any of our 1st 11.

The only thing I don't get is what made us change our minds for the Pienaar deal. I thought that was reliant on Krasic coming which hasn't happened (are deals ever announced out of the blue this late or the next day?) and Lennon, who I guess Pienaar was meant to cover, is injured again. Oh, and I also don't get the Nelson deal, isn't he seriously injured?

Pienaar Corluka and bassong were loans and will possibly be back in the summer along with Jenas and Bentley don't forget so back to square one

But with regular game time they will be decent bids in for them. I would say we could get around 20-25m in total from those 5. Plus selling Gomes and Gio will get around 10m.

That's 7 players that have NO FUTURE at our club and with JJ saying we are after Hazard, Leandro, Remy and Verthongen finishing top 3 is massive now

And one we'll make money on.

There's nothing to moan about with him leaving, other those who like moaning for the sake of moaning.

Saha is a better fit for our system than Pav.
Bassong is low on confidence. And Daws and Kaboul need a leader if Leds and Gallas are out.
Corluka wasn't happy. Slightly strange to loan out Pienaar - but I'm assuming Harry knows the squad better than I do.

None of the other top 5 have strengthened.
We're 13 points ahead of Arsenal!! so we must have some faith in the management.

The player that managed to have the most unbelievable correllation between level of support compared with level output.

Less output ... far more support than much more established players.

Overrated because of his name. The worst effort to learn English I've seen from a player in the country for 3 years. The worst effort in a match I've seen for a player in a Tottenham shirt. For an international striker, his first touch is possibly the worst.

Thanks for the odd crucial goals and for being excruciatingly painful to watch.

I welcome Louis Saha. I welcome him because he will put a lot of effort in. Because he's a busy bastard.

Don't know what planet people are on sometimes. It's not just about the fucking name on the back, it's about their work ethic and goalscoring ability.

Spot on with this. Good luck to him, scored some good goals but looked terrible most of the time.

Older bench warmers? Or more experienced bench warmers? Saha has a PL winners' medal ...

Saha for Pav is a good bit of business. We've not got that super star signing, but at least Saha is someone who fits our system. I find it a little annoying that we have so many players out on loan, but I guess we couldn't get reasonable cash for them. A sensible window, but not an exciting one. Bring on Liverpool!
