Apart from the Manchester clubs and Chelsea, who are all these clubs that are so significantly better than us we're going to drop out of the top 6?

So this is how we should judge things?

How about looking at that fact that we missed ANOTHER opportunity to better these teams instead of just treading water which is what we've done every single window since we got CL.

I'm sure it'll be AVB's fault for some subs he makes in March when we end up 5th or 6th this year though.

While I am very happy to have signed Lloris we already had a solid keeper in Brad Friedel.

I think midfield (provided you already have a good striker) is the most important area. We have good, athletic players and some good holding midfielders in the team, but with Modric and VDV gone we are seriously lacking in creativity.

I'm hopeful as always, and I'm very pleased with the players we actually HAVE signed, but I'd be lying if I said I'm pleased with our business overall.

Lloris is a huge upgrade on Friedel imho

Not conceding goals is as vital as scoring them if not more and Lloris and Vertonghen have strengthened us at the back

We have lost some creative flair but that will be compensated by being stronger at the back

Have spurs said moutinho deal is dead?

I'm still hoping there is a chance

Said the same thing a few (well now several) pages back. I'd not be surprised to see Levy and AVB pull this one out the bag by the morning. He's a master at submitting the paperwork by the deadline and with AVB's strong Porto links I just can't see how the transfer would have failed to materialise. Especially if AVB gets on with the player so well. Maybe it's a case of "sign the paperwork and we will sort the finer details post deadline". Guess we will know for sure tomorrow. Fingeres crossed hey ;)

And Vertoghen, and although not a good enough replacement for Modric, DEMBELE IS AMAZING

if he is that amazing we wouldnt have got em...
we r lucky cos we have kept hudd and md but the worrying thing is that that this is by luck / injury..... makes me worry that we were prepared to lose th before jj when th is our only mf who offers something diff
abs no idea how avb will accom all these mf playesrs and whether we accept it or not we have 1 striker ea

Dempsy?? 17 goals last year! Could be the difference in games like west brom.
Lloris?? Could earn is 5 more points!
Dembele? Scored like 33 goals in Holland before fulham
Gylfi. Scores When he wants

We Will do just fine:)

If I wake up tomorrow morning and see we have signed Moutinho I will immediately jizz everywhere without warning. But unfortunately we wont.

I agree with you. Just think the kneejerk reactions claiming we'll be lucky to finish above 7th are immature and ridiculous.

I'm a bit apprehensive about Arsenal. You just never know if Giroud and Podolski are going to be great for them. Having said that, I think we're in with a shout for the 4th place

You just know that something completely and unfeasibly ridiculously preposterously unimaginable will happen on the last day of the season to propel the Filth into the CL at our expense again, though.

Yes and no, to be fair to Friedel before our two month long slump of bad results he was one of the top keepers in the Premier League. While it's true goalkeepers can sometimes save points, wouldn't you rather have a team that plays the opposition off the pitch?

Where the fuck does Dempsey play in our system anyway? Makes no sense at all. Least hope going into a season for ages.

It makes a lot of sense. He'll play as right forward in 433. He'll provide us with plenty of goals and he'll come into the box from wider and get on the end of plenty of Bale crosses.

I think he is a bargain for £6m, it is only disappointing because we hoped for Llorente and Moutinho.
