I am happy with Dempsey. Not as a replacement for VDV but combined with Sig and Dembele I would guess you're conservatively looking at 25+ goals from midfield.

If we get Moutinho it would be a fantastic window but so much rides on him - without him in there is suddenly no lynchpin to build the team around and things look very disparate.

Dempsey's a very good player and I'd welcome him.

But he'll be played up top. He's being signed because we can't get Remy/Llorente/WILL.I.AN. He's 29, so not one for the future, but gives us a bit of breathing space to bring that elusive lead striker in. Leandro in January maybe.

The signing has no bearing on the Modric/Moutinho situation whatsoever, we still need that place filling.
