seems we are destined to never have a world class striker and destined for Europa again this season

what happened to all the so called investment money and stadium naming rights money ?

there was no investment this window as we made a profit and that seems to be the priority

You mean like Shevchenko and Crespo?

Being a big name is no certainty of success in premiership

I would call Adebayor not far off 'world class'

I wonder what the reaction would have been had we signed Moutinho and then not signed any or some of Vertonghen, Sigurdsson, Dembele, Dempsey, Adebayor or Lloris.

"Levy is fucking us all over and he's telling the ITK's what to say just so he can save £3.37 and come on your money in a big pile in his office LEVY OUT!!!"

Something like that I imagine.

Yeh but look at what has happened to Liverpool and Arsenal today.

Good point. I think Arsenal have suffered severely since Dein left. However, I think this game of brinkmanship isn't always the best strategy. Yes it got VDV, but at times it can also leave the squad short, and looking at sales & purchases over the last few years the money is there. Also, we're struggling with selling on unwanted players Jenas, Bentley ect. which intern is a cost centre in itself. I mean what value have those players given in the last 3 years. There must be a way of getting them off the books surely?

How is that possible? He get's whatever wage he's on at Madrid. Liverpool just pay Madrid a % or even cover all of the wages. It would make no difference to Sahin what % Liverpool pay as he'll still get his Madrid wages just like Ade did last year with City.

Unless they agreed to pay a larger percentage which worked out better for him with exchange rates? Would seem trivial, mind you...

:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Your post is total fail! Or as you say in the public sector "fuck it, it'll do".
Quite. I did work in the private sector for 15 years before hand though. If I brought home results like levy tonight though, in my current job, it'd be 'fuck it, it's just yer mum'

Ok guys, chill the f*** down, i've got this...
Frist of all: are we strengthened?
Yes!

We lost modric and vdv.

We've now got vert, gylfi, lloris, dembele and demps.

We were the third (4. By table position) last year.

How Did our competitors do?
Arsenal: weakend
Chelsea: so so
Liv: crap

In my opinion we'll be challenging for top 3 this year as well!
And if avb is a top manager, then Maybe top 2!

I love my team, i love levy and i'm about to love avb, dembele, vert and dempsy!!!

Coys!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where the fuck does Dempsey play in our system anyway? Makes no sense at all. Least hope going into a season for ages.

Not one signing to 'take us to that next level'(like harry used to say)
if anything we may have gone down a level

It's worth noting that every outside source I've seen so far, from the Guardian football blog to Arsenal fansites, have basically been saying it's been a good window for us and that we've strengthened. All this ITK stoking beliefs that we are DEFINITELY 100% getting Moutinho etc clearly distort our perspective and expectations.

Yeah I've seen that. But they aren't looking at the fact that despite some good buys, we lost 3 world class players. So that tempers the good purchases we made. Sure King was at the end and Modric wanted to leave, but we still lost 3 world class players. That's two more than Arsenal. Two more than Chelsea. 3 more than United and City. Maybe our purchasing was the best of the window, especially for value, but overall, I don't think they see the over loss of talent and bodies. We lost 6 mids and only bought 3 if we count Dempsey. We have a CB as backup to Benny. And many of our remaining squad players don't seem to be in AVB's plans like Huddlestone and Bentley who are basically just there to take up HGP status. So it's neither as dire as some make it out to be nor as good as these guys are making it out to be. It's good but scary. And that's the best anybody can say until we have time to assess the purchases, say in November.

Probably RW. Bring on Lennon after 65 minutes, against a tired and hopefully yellow carded LB, then let the mayhem begin!
