Glad to see we're still hopeful of a DM but I really don't see who that DM is going to be.

With McCarthy I just can't see a deal being possible, and our chances will become extremely slim if Stones ends up with the Chavs.

I'd love to be reassured that we still have other options that aren't Jonjo Shelvey if the McCarthy deal isn't doable.

ITK...right, ITK. I'd be over the moon if we shipped out Ade, Chiriches and Lennon. I think we could get decent fees for Chiriches and Lennon...I'd happily pay villa a few quid to take Ade

Dear @Spurrific,

Get out of my thread.

Shame about MS, but I doubt we could have done much more this year. Odd that we would even consider either Rose or Davies.

Given Ade's got one year left on his deal, it seems from both clubs' perspective the difference between a loan and a permanent deal are quite minimal. Hope Ade is not blocking this deal by being unrealistic with his demands. Can't expect any PL club to risk him on a 3 year deal given how many compassionate leaves etc he's taken recently.

at least poch can be mad at ms himself for choosing united over us as opposed to levy not ponying up the cash as we've seen in the past. all in all it sounds like a really tight ship we're running now and even without ms, we'd surely have had a few attainables on the list nevertheless. Hope there's at least one out there for us.

Think personal terms agreed for both options but obviously different for either scenario

DM wise, did you see the interview with VdV saying he regretted leaving Spurs and that he sees himself as "more of a no. 6 these days". Says he would've jumped at the chance to come back. Arse!

Yeah, not sure how convinced I am by that. Can't see Rafa putting his foot in too often or effectively.

Either way, seems he's off
Chiriches and Lennon (plus to a lesser extent Frederiks) please, and that's been a huge window's clear out.
Positive to hear a DM, WF and CF still on the horizon.
Can't see Rose going, and to be honest, unless he forced the issue why sell Davies? Would just mean we had to go and buy another player to be integrated.

The Grey Fox info on Poch being pissed about MS. Is he pissed we didn't offer more, or MS didn't accept our bid or what?

Quite frankly, I like MS, but the price for him was steep.

Personally don't believe the bit about Poch being pissed off about MS - it's not like we are in a position to be competing with Man U.

Ali Z on Coys:

I totally understand the cynicism of some of you on the board. As of yesterday I was told we still want 3 more in, cm, wf and forward. Some of the names have been mentioned on the board, the fact is it's a balancing act for us we can't just go out and spend silly money like city or utd. So buying player x means we won't buy player y but get player z instead. Levy makes sure we are never overstretched financially and whilst I think he should gamble more sometimes I am glad he does not put the club at risk.

and

is the transfer window closed until it is can we really claim that we have not matched the level of ambition.
