Going back to the Ade info what do we think about the last part about looking hard to offload him?

Is it that it is looking very doubtful that we can offload him or that we are doing everything we can to offload him?

Considering that theBale deal is possibly worth £100m, and the Parker deal worth not much, yes I considered that SP stood for Stadium Plan. We are looking for funding for the new stadium; some have suggested that the Bale money could partly contribute.

Parker to QPR has no obvious links to Bale to RM. They play different positions, and RM don't seem to be involved with QPR in any way.

Sorry for GB talk in here, but the SP replies were starting to bug.:cautious:

I think you misunderstood JJ's quote. The SP delays are down to him, as in himself, being Scott Parker, not Gareth Bale.

I'm pretty sure what JJ is alluding to, is the fact that in many various papers they are claiming that because bale is out for 3 weeks, he would have played his last game for spurs.

I don't expect any official announcements or quotes in relation to Bale playing his last game on the eve of a new season.

Guess we held firm, set a price and told the player the situation. It has now come to the point the RM have caved (and at £100m that's exactly what they've done) and agreed to our terms.

Player to his credit hasn't caused a stink publicly, so appreciate that - no player can turn down RM, no club can turn down £100m. I'm sorry to lose him, and from a neutral standpoint think he is going a season too early, but can accept the transfer.

I'm just a bit worried on the terms of the sale - £100m over 6 years doesn't really help us as the financial reward is too diluted, given the amount of money being pumped into the club from different sources. Unless it is £60m now, followed by £40m (which will more than likely be in other players).

I really, really hope for Bale's sake that he makes it over there, it would be criminal if he is being bought surplus to requirements, as a political move and not for footballing reasons. He has the ability to be one of the best in the world, would be devastating to see him struggle to reach his peak because of Perez' ego.

Good luck to him, even though I will lose £50 I want to boy to do well. One more year and he would be a legend for Spurs. Can't be the case now.

w.c. fields (quote 2) was turned down for the role of uncle billy in 'it's a wonderful life' (quote 1).

so, we're looking at uncle billy? :wtf:

this is what you get when you solve them in nanoseconds too often. ffs.

How much better is Lamela compared to Willian? Is he? I hear that he scored 15 in 33 games (in a, lets be honest, pretty poor Italian league). Willian on the other hand, doesn't score at all (20 in 140 games from 2007-2013 in an, lets be honest, pretty horrific Ukranian league).

Of course Lamela is young, but they are both massive downgrades from Bale. I am gutted that he is leaving, I really am. I am also very pleased that I got to see him play for us.

Why is Serie A a pretty poor league?

15 goals in 33 games is good by anyone's standard

Perhaps we're moving quicker than expected with Bale because we have interest in Willian. Can't risk him joining another team in the Prem?
Can someone clarify if A&Cs latest quote was referring to Willian?
I'd love it if so,considering "Sky Sources" are reporting that the bin dippers have opened talks with Anzhi.

Uncle Billy = William or better known as Willian.

No...thought not.

Hello

Just been told to expect some movement on the Gareth Bale situation today.

It wasn't good news.

Truckload of salt obviously.

Also the SP hold up is down to him but I can't elaborate in public yet what the hold up is.

Gutted. Convinced myself he'd stay for one more season :(

We better have some decent replacements secured.

Cashed out my bet last night, but was speaking to a betfair manager there....he was saying there has just been some serious action on the Bale market lol

Needs to be sorted now though, one way or another.

Surely we can use invoice discounting (as detailed in an informative article last season) if we need the cash upfront. Not sure how much of the £100m that would see us lose but, let's be honest, £100m is a silly amount of money so losing even 10% of it might not be that bad if it radically affects our ability to operate in the market in the immediate term.

Actually, yes you are right. I have heard that Serie A was downrated to below the Bundesliga. Doing some research now it seems that I am wrong. The Italian league is not that bad then...
But if we presume that Lamela is a good replacement for Bale, I think that we are in for dissapointment.

EDIT: although in some rankings, Serie A is not much better than the Portuguese first division.

I shoulda done the same.. Would've got an extra £100 from what I'm looking at getting at the moment. Maybe I'll wait a little longer..

We are never going to get anywhere near a like-for-like replacement on Bale's level, so if you are hoping for that then prepare to be disappointed. What could hopefully happen though is that we sign up a young player like Lamela, he keeps improving and is then a couple of years down the line near Bale's current level.

Also, we can hopefully replace one 'very good' player with say four 'good' players, and improve the overall depth and quality of the squad. We may also learn to vary our attack a bit, rather than relying on one player.

you dont, and cant replace players like Bale.
The team has to change and adapt
