I disagree with those saying that we won't get PG just because he turend down Chelsea. Roman knows no loyalty to his managers. He hired AVB with a long term plan and didn't even give him a full season. His caretaker manager wins him the champions league and he still goes behind his back to sound out other candidates. Why would PG want to work for someone like that? He might/probably will turn us down but don't give up on him just because he didn't want to go to Chelsea.

I can't help but feel we have made a huge mistake.
Unfortunately it was the only option we had. Levy couldn't let a manager treat our proud club like that. Going in demanding a fecking pay rise with that prick Stretford after the way the season ended. What if Levy had just rolled over and given in??? Three more years of self-interested blame games, no proper set-piece training no f**king clue how to change a game and 10 million or more pounds down the drain. Makes my blood boil to think of the cheek. Understand that one man alone has brought us to this accursed crossroads and it aint Levy.

This is my understanding ackie...

1. Benitez
2. AVB
3. Moyes

I think it will be one of those three.

Obviously a Guardiola/Ancelotti/Klopp being interested would change that but it's unlikely

My understanding is:
Benitez - Moyes
Jose (as just posted) recommended AVB.
Deschamps and Klopp
In the words of someone high up in football (not Spurs), Rafa is raring to go - has plans and wants to win things! He seem to have something against a top manager too...

Jose recommended AVB...For those who have worked with AVB, and here I can confidently say I have heard from some personnel, he is arrogant, one track mind, can be childish and a moaner... Many of our players will not like him, specially the English!

Like Mourinho then?! He turned out alright... :)

Couldn't agree more with nailsy. Chelsea have a LOT of money but Pep is a purist.

ackie would you be happy with Rafa then? Seems to be many against it.

When did Pep make the statement that, although taking a break, he could be interested if the right project came along? Could we be that project.
What colour eyes does he have?!

When's DL rumoured to have started looking around?

You never know.

I would be happy with a manager that has a winning mentality and has a proven track record mate.
I would prefer Rafa to Martinez and probably to Moyes.
Whoever we appoints must think top 3 and challenging for BIG honours! A fine tactician and great motivator too. Someone who can also some stars...

Come on guys lets get a reality check. If Chelski couldn't get PG then we have no chance. Our pursuit of managers will be like our transfer policy , being linked with all the top names who we stand no chance of getting. My money is on Moyes with Martinez as the fall back.
Has anyone considered that maybe guardiola didn't fancy the Chelsea job as he knew if things didn't go right immediately then abramovich would probably fire him in three months time.

Do you really think Noodles would have actually checked the colour of the dude's eyes when he posted that painful tidbit?

God I sound like SS57.

Benitez could be OK...but no idea how that will work with Levy. They're both different!

I'm also not sure we have enough players for Rafa rotation.

Meh, better than Martinez & AVB by about a billion miles though.

As I said a few days ago Harry has gone. Klinsman sounded out by Lewis last week and indicated he wants to stay in USA, but never say never. Cappello son said in meeting he wants to go to UAE or somewhere like that for mega bucks. AVB advisors said he would be interested

. Lewis thinks Martinez is best young manager in England. Levy thinks we should try for Pep
smiley36.gif
. Lewis taking bigger interest in affairs from now on along with his buddies at Coolmore

If Levy manages to seduce Guardiola into taking this position after he refused an open chequebook at Chelsea, I'll put my fist up my own arse and pull myself inside out.

I think the front runners are: Moyes, Martinez and possibly, possibly Benitez.

Saying that, Levy will have a plan of action and I'm sure he already knows who is going to take over, so it could well be someone unexpected. As they say, always expect the unexpected*.

* Of course, if you expect the unexpected, it ceases to be unexpected, meaning you wouldn't have expected it in the first place.
