Kits don't usually have the cross of St George on them anyway so who cares
Yes they do, there's always a cross on the England shirt somewhere and it's always red.
You don't just change the flag of a nation for shits and giggles.

I probably wouldn't mind if it was a rainbow to support LGBTQ+, or a statement like that but this appears to have just been done for the sake of it.

Where was it on last years? (2022) or the one before (2020). I can see the one on 2018. What about before that? Nothing on 2016, or 2014, or 2012. Then there were multicoloured ones on 2010

On #Crossgate ( as a non English person)

This is not even the first time different stuff has been done with the flag on an England shirt. Here’s the collar of the 201O World Cup shirt

Not that I know of, but it's a small flag on the back of the collar, that most people won't even ever see. Definitely feels like an overreaction to me. I'd certainly understand it more if they changed the crest that was front and centre on the shirt.
I hear this said quite a lot. Given that it's just a small flag that most people won't ever see I'm surprised that it hasn't happened more often. Maybe changing the French flag from blue, white, red to, maybe, green, white, red. I doubt the French would be at all bothered by that - and neither should they.

Or possibly change the red Welsh dragon to a rainbow coloured unicorn. These are just small changes, and would be very playful and inclusive.

Maybe take it a step further and change the Irish tricolour to a red cross on a white background. Small changes, playful, inclusive, most people won't see it, etc.

None of them have flags on their shirts (that is to say it's not the national emblem that's been changed) (nor do england, it's just a cross that happens to be on this particular shirt and it matches the colourway of the shirt collar) it's really not that deep.

Nike themselves say the kit "....also feature an interpretation of the flag of St. George on the back of the collar.”

I was simply wondering whether Nike do this to any other country's flags, and if not, why, given that it clearly wouldn't be a problem for anyone.

They didn't even put a flag on the U.S. kit.

An interpretation i.e. a stylistic representation. Where's the jocks up in arms about the Scottish flag being purple on their away kit?

Do you mean the crest? I'm not saying there isn't a purple Scottish flag on there somewhere as I can't see all of it, but the Scottish FA crest and the national flag are not the same thing.

No I mean the flag on the back.

(Also more of a flag than the england one as it's not just the cross in the middle)

If people are that outraged they simply need to not buy it.

That is the best way to put the message across to nike.

Football shirts are a massive rip off nowadays anyways.

It's a stylistic design to fit in with the colour palette of the shirt. Even in just researching, Brazil have done the same for one of their away shirts where the yellow of the flag was changed to blue, and I for one certainly can't remember there being any uproar over that.

Thanks.

I think if the England flag had been done in a similar way, with it maintaining the red cross as the Scottish has with the white cross, then I think most people would have been happy with it.

I don't think the yellow has so much been changed to blue as they've just taken one section of the flag (the green diamond) and put it over the colour of the kit. I think there's something about not retaining any of the normal colours of the St Georges Cross that has caused the problems.

As I said in my reply to @luRRka, If they'd kept the red cross then I think they could have put it on any colour background without issue.
