I actually LOL'd at a Sun headline. It had to happen one day...
That’s done their team talk for them... don’t think Kane would be too impressed with the headline.
I lived in Colombia in 2016 and watched quite a few of their qualifiers. They're a funny old team - talented but very inconsistent and seem to suffer from a bit of an inferiority complex, not unlike us. In qualifying they basically beat all the teams below them and lost to those above them, and only a handful of their performances were impressive.
Poland sat off them and let them play, but Senegal pressed them and made them look average. I think if we come raging out of the blocks like we did against Tunisia we can cause them serious problems as they aren't used to that, but we need to be ruthless and not let them grow into the game. Of course if James doesn't play that would be absolutely massive as they're nowhere near as good without him.
I'm actually shaking like an alcoholic with withdrawal as I write this. So bloody nervous.
Marching powders all it's cracked up to be then?
Got a feeling Dele will play and have a good game. Now’s the time he needs to step up, harry can’t score all the goals and Sterling seems incapable of transferring his club form to international level.
It's the first time I've had 'Spurs nerves' since we played Scotland in the qualifiers. Yes, I know we ought to beat Scotland (in theory at least), but local derbies are so unpredictable, and England have a habit of making things difficult for themselves at the best of times. Like many English people, I know one or two Scots, and the thought of losing against them in any sport is unbearable, simply because of the chirp you're going to get.First time I've woken up with 'Spurs nerves' for an England match since, hmmm, 1998? Maybe 2002.
To feel anything for our national team is something I didn't think would return, so it's actually pretty damn good to genuinely care about our result for once.
