I’m pretty baffled we’ve let Gil and to some extent GLC go with only bringing 2 in. Injuries or another outbreak and looking thin
Thing is you have to remember how long it takes sometimes to get players out. If you don't want them and there's a solid offer that the player is willing to accept sometimes it's for the best. If he'd stayed it might have been for another full year of paying his wages.

Think of it this way come the Summer the excuse has now gone that we need to clear squad space before we can buy.

3 who weren't going to play (and Gil not likely to, with 90 minutes total in the League) replaced with 2 who will play.

It's +2 for me.
Doesn't mean we aren't awfully light though
Until recently they were all part of the squad, with such a high quality manager i don't think anyone can see he has been massively backed, solid incoming but will all the outgoings and the wages freed up we are still short

Ndombele granted was training separately, but there's no way none of Gil Dele and GLC would have had decent minutes until the rest of the season. Gil was a regular sub whilst they were all still here, let alone as part of the smaller squad we're going to have now.

One Kane injury and we've got Berwijn up top and only 3 options behind him. One or two injuries to our 4 CMs and we no longer have the option to play a 3-5-2 and will have U18s on the bench. Definitely still a player short imo.

Disaster is a bit much. It was important to get players out which we've done, and we've strengthened CM and attack. We do look light, but ultimately only Gill and Lo Celso were getting minutes. I think this was the absolute minimum we should have expected, so I don't see it as anything other than average 5.5/10.
agree if we actually got rid, but as i understand and reports saying we are not rid more than 6 months as they are all loans with only options?

Also getting a sell on from Marcus Edwards whose just gone to Sporting. Bunch of wages saved & some $$$ coming in from Dele & Edwards. Spurs left short. Just an absolute A+++++ window for 2 certain someones. They'll be pleased.

Kulusevski now has become a pivotal signing for us. He likes to play no10 but been playing wide. I wonder, if he is bought to be the no10 or the advanced midfielder in the midfield of 3. Paratici has certainly gone all-in on players he knows. If it comes off , he comes of like a genius - else, he is a goner.
Lets hope for club sake, the 2 players click straight away

I agree but surely there's players in the mould of Amrabat we can bring in on loan, solid pros who aren't brilliant but will cover for 6 months till we can get who we want.

If this is us done, bit disappointed but not disheartened.

Conte won the 2016/17 PL with just 17 seniors + 5 U21s. He likes a tight knit squad. As long as he is happy and is behind every decision, I am more than ok. We dont have European football. So squad is ok I guess.

Whats important is deadwood is gone - that means we can move early in summer. Move early in summer - get 2 or 3 big signings and go into the preseason. Thats all I want.

Different times though. Another covid outbreak combined with any injuries and we are bang in trouble. Hopefully we are through all that, but operating with a small squad at the moment is still a risk. But 21 should be enough. Let’s see. Any problems on that front and we know what will happen.

Getting rid of four allegedly "star" players that the manager won't use and bringing in two is not a sign of backing the manager? Really?

Well we just disagree on that.

All things considered its pretty good.

But a little surprised we let that many go...

Summer going to be pivotal.

As good as it is to get shifted of a few, it’s very short sighted to be planning for moves in the summer when a slim squad for the remainder of the season decreases any hope of obtaining CL football next season.

I really hope that’s not the end of our business today.

Yes. But once you have a bite, things can move quickly. See Dele.

Outgoings - Conte really backed here. I would have been happier if the departures were permanent rather than so many loans as we may just have kicked the can down the road. But at least they’re out of our dressing room, off the wage bill and in the shop window in leagues where they performed at their best.

Incomings - media and ITK all consistent in reporting we wanted a LCB, RWB and an ST. In the end, we ended up with two players we do need but not in the positions which were reported as a priority. Hopefully this leads to Bergwijn being tried on the right.

Considering we've moved so many players, that 6 months Amrabat loan wouldn't be bad just in case.

I'm more than ok with the outcome of this window though.
