My first was a bad one for us sending jimmy Robertson to the woolich for David Jenkins , what a bad move from billy nick that was dreadful. My nextone I remember was getting the best centre forward I've ever seen in the Lillywhite big chiv loved him so much

My first year of Yidulthood was when we were relegated - I know we bought Lee, though I can't say I have any memory of it. I do remember an exciting young talent just breaking into the team, who took the (old) Second Div by storm - Glenda Hoddle, but we didn't actually sign him. The first transfer(s) I remember in a literal sense were...da da da da daaaaaaa Ardiles and Villa.
I remember them being unveiled on the pitch, I remember the media frenzy, way above anything that was the norm of the time, I remember the fans excitement - it was palpable. I remember supporting the team as they were relegated and, again, as they won promotion, but that was the first time I really thought wow, this is something (y)

remember we'd agreed to sign bobby moore!!.
just before the 66 world cup!.. he was what would be regarded now as out of contract.. but then being without a club meant
he was ineligible to play for England!... there was some argument as he wanted to play for us & not west ham but to play for England he needed a club, I don't know what happened but he ended up as a west ham player again against his wish.

Klinsmann! I was on cub camp at the time in the sherwood forest and the news came via a random bloke who had just heard it on the radio and he told me because I was wearing my germany world cup 94 shirt with klinsmann on the back. Great day!

I came to football relatively late in life (well the life I have lived so far, obviously I am not dead!) so it was either Darren Bent or Gareth Bale. I am choosing to go with Bale because, well, who wouldn't really given that choice!

But I can remember my dad and uncle getting excited about Gazza.

Big Chiv for me!

Just like Greaves' transfer was a record fee then, big Chiv's was another record. We used to buy big, unlike now. Peters, Venables and Mullery were also big buys although not in the same range as Chiv, Peters and Greaves. Then there was also Ralph Coates although he never lived up to his 118,000 pound fee.
