If it wasn't so sad this thread would be quite amusing.

The title of this thread should now be Baldini - the man who took Spurs from the Champions League to mid table mediocrity. I just can't believe how poor we've become in a couple of years. We've lost world class players in Bale and Modric (not Baldini's fault) and replaced them with very average players (Baldini's buys).

We've blown £100 million on players that would struggle to get in any of the top 10 teams in the PL.

You look at what Southampton have done and realize that we should have been buying their scouts and DOF rather than their manager. Southampton were in league 2 a few season ago!

While we try and come to terms with blowing £100 million and having to endure these expensive flops week after week I do take some solace in the fact that players that have cost us nothing continue to perform somewhat better than our exotic flops.

Bentaleb, Mason and Harry Kane. All youth players and arguably Mason and Kane are out performing many of their so called illustrious big money team mates.

And Baldini had nothing to do with this.
The one chink of light at the moment. All should be starting with Ceballos and Pritchard near to first team action. I am afraid not one of our summer signings are
good enough.

We don't know fuck all, that's the problem.

DL is the one signing the cheques tho, He just ain't to keen on signing ones that have lots of zeros on them. Which makes Francis job a bit more difficult if imagine.

You say that, yet he's spent plenty

There is a huge different between spending and investing. Fact of the matter is, Levy does not invest. He spends less than he brings in. We have a negative expenditure over the last 5 years. One of the only clubs to do that. What does that tell you? To me, it says that he does not understand a basic principle of business. You have to spend money to make money and progress. Levy spends little to make large profits on players instead of spending the money necessary for the club to progress. We have stalled out under ENIC. They took us as far as they can. It is high time for someone else to come in and progress us further.

The one time we got CL, ENIC blew it. Had a golden opportunity and they blew it. They were given another golden opportunity last summer when they could have shown ambititon and kept Bale and spent to improve the squad where we needed it. And what happened? They blew it!

It's always funny when we get the "Sack Baldini" posts yet if you ask one of these people to describe what his job actually involves they generally don't have a clue.

I don't what his job involves to be fair, that is why I can't say whether he is doing a good or bad job.

That's exactly why I don't like the notion of a Director of Football. It's another layer of middle management that a club doesn't require. At least not for the first team.

I don't think it's necessarily bad to split the development side of the club away from first team affairs though. But for the first team the Manager should have full control over who comes and goes from the club within the tolerance of their own budget.

Thought it was between Baldini & head coach to decide who to go for, with just financial sanction from Levy.
Baldini is Levy's employee, thus any responsibility comes back Levy. A DoF doesnt HAVE to be there, Levy chooses to have one. Quite frankly it's got to the point now where anyone defending Levy just looks proper cringeworthy now, we've been left desperately short of any real experienced quality players, but nevermind, we might make a few million on Stambouli aye

Sacking Baldini wouldn't really solve anything in the grand scheme of things, and to blame him for most of our ills is wrong. I have said all along though that I don't think he brings much to the table. He's effectively a transfer negotiator who is/was quite well connected.
