Mr coolness personified

He was the perfect player to bring on last night. Never panicked, played at his own pace, great touch and strength, and took some pressure off our defence. He is exactly what we miss without Berbatov.

Harry sign him up!

Should really have scored though and put the game beyond Arsenal!

Saying that he did bring some composure to us though when he came on and maybe the chance came to early for him.

I must admit he was Ice cool last night.

I said to Mrs Mattyspurs, when he came on that he was the perfect player for the situation. He never looked rushed, even when there was a group of players around him.

Just wish he would have put his foot throught the ball to score the goal though. It was have stopped my heart going into overdrive for the last 10 mins

His experience is vital in situations like that. Slowing the game down and keeping possession.

He was fanatastic last night. Just what was required at the time. Pity about his fluffed shot. That would've really put the Gunners to bed

Yeah was going to start a thread like this last night. Said to my mate at the time when Eidur came on, that he was the perfect sub to bring on for Defoe. JD did ok, nice ball for Bale's goal, but I don't think he's got the footballing brain that Gudjohnsen has - he just wants to blast the ball all the time, normally giving possession away whereas Gudjohnsen kept the ball, didn't rush anything and helped us take the pace out of the game when we needed it.

Glad we have him tbh.

I didn't think he fluffed the shot... I thought he laid it off across goal because C*mpbell was closing in in front of him.

he is the type of experienced pro & winner that we need and have been crying out for. he can help players around him and breeds confidence which can only be good for them.
harry will get him in even if its just for next season because players like him will be valuable in europe in either comp

A far more effective signing than Viera would have been, the experience he brings to our young side is very underrated

You can see that playing at Barca has really helped him, obviously he was talented anyway or they wouldn't have signed him. But he fits in with the "receive, pass, offer" mentality that they have, and I think the longer we can keep him the more he can help that rub off onto the other players. As some of them, Hudd included, were just way too rushed and didn't seem to have confidence to keep hold of the ball. EG was not phased even when marked, was happy to keep hold of the ball and find a team mate.

Yup, totally agree, he didn't fluff the shot, he was trying to pass it on - for the PERFECT goal.......and it would've been if it had come off!! :)

But yeah you guys are absolutely right, Eidur is definitiely what we've been missing.
He can play upfront or drop back into midfield - we tried that with Keano, but it didn't quite work out, whereas it seems so natural for Eidur.

Lets get him signed up for sure!

Very quick thinking player! - Almost Sheringham-esque!

I really like him as a player. He holds the ball up well, something our other forwrds struggle with.
Would be a good squad player for next season

id play him on sat from start against chelsea in a three depp lying with thudd and poss kaboul and thudd in midfield. modric and bentley from left and right and poss crouch up front. that looks strong to me and will need to keep hold of ball better against them and get bale bombing on from left back. im worried about energy of team for chelsea

I'd like to see him bought in for next season. I'd also like Berba back. Berba, Pav, Defoe & E-Gud

Forget Berba, he would have a negative influence on the squad with his attitude and the way he left.

I agree with all the above... certainly he was the one player who I wanted to see come into the box to finish off Benny's pass... pity it didn't hit the net!
