To be fair it is being reported that the deal will be structured as a loan with obligation. Wolves were initially reported to be reluctant to accept those terms, so it stands to reason that they would not have accepted them when the window first opened.

If the structure of the deal buys us some breathing room to be able to get other business done then perhaps we’ll look back on it and say that the delay was worthwhile. If Traore is the only signing we make it will be massively frustrating.

It all comes down to the state of the squad as of the close of the window. I’ll withhold judgment until then.

Yeah that's fair enough mate....Good point.

New Ally Gold video recap:

  • Conte wants Dele, Lo Celso, Ndombele out
  • Sevilla are interested in Lo Celso
  • Thinks Lo Celso needs to leave as its now a bit awkward for the club & the player after this weekend
  • Thinks there will need to be compromises from Ndombele & Spurs to get the PSG loan to happen
  • Everton certainly interested in Dele, Newcastle not as sold on a move on Dele but could change if they struggle to bring in players
  • Talks about Conte being very open in press conferences that he needs new players, behind the scenes has been very clear on the state of the team
  • Traore signing is being driven by Paratici, should be wrapped up but still working on option of loan with obligation. Conte happy with the deal
  • Paratici has spoken to McKennie's reps this month but doesn't see a way that Juve would sell him this month. One to keep an eye on this Summer
  • Kessie, sure Spurs would like to bring him in now & Milan would let him go but player probably more looking to the Summer
  • Amrabat - more offered to Spurs than someone they're really interested in. His agent reps alot of spurs players (all the welsh guys) so makes sense why the agent would have come to them
  • Doesn't seem to think Wijnaldum would happen
  • Vlahovic - thinks Spurs could have pushed the boat harder and got him last season. Probably missed out as most of Europe will probably want him this summer.
  • Got to differentiate between a player "offered" to Spurs vs if they're actually after him
  • He gets frustrated that we haven't signed anyone yet. Doesn't think the Traore fee will be any different from what it would have been in the first week of the window so he has no idea why we waited.
  • He also has no idea how you bring in enough replacements to offset the potential leaving of Dele, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Tanganga, Rodon, etc.

To be honest not a ton there we didn't know. For me the most telling part is there's basically no real strong links for incomings outside of Traore.
Summer is the time to get another striker.

Last summer or this summer? ?

7-10 summers ago.

I'm not sure why exactly, but people seem to be under the impression that we've only had one striker before now. I think it's because the likes of Janssen, Vincius, and Llorente were signed and barely used. Redknapp used to keep 4 or 5 at a time and rotate them, so it's wierd.

Re waiting for oil boy. We’ve saved a months salary. That’s why we waited. And whilst it’s business sense, if the business your in is sports, and oil boy could have made a diff in January then it’s shocking business. Hey ho tho. All or nothing, right?

I was kind of just making a joke after all the 7-10 days lines we heard during the summer last year tbh. What you've said is correct. We've signed strikers who have just not been good enough really bar Llorente who I thought did a decent job. People want another Kane which, in my opinion isn't going to happen at Spurs because we aren't good enough right now.

I appreciate the need to invest in the future, but we need to finish in the top 4.So I'm hoping our main focus in this window is o getting at least a couple in, to go straight into the squad... The opportunity to gain CL qualification this season, is too great to miss out on on.

It's like the whole Morata thing though, when apparently Poch spoke to him and he wasn't willing to join a team where he'd be backup for Kane or something.
We'd need to be playing 2 up to justify and attract a top striker, and then you'd have to wonder where Son fits into all that.
Kane's been so serendipitous for us, but he's kind of a problem at the same time. Same as Eriksen, where we aren't able to replace them because they're here and then they're gone, with no rotation or desire to be rotated. If we'd signed Haaland from Molde, I bet he'd still not have got a look in.

Llorente was decent, but it's a shame that he could have done so much more for us. Hopefully we won't go balls out for Vlahovic and then have him sat around for a season having his soul sucked dry coming on a 85 mins.

The reasons why we haven't done a particular deal yet are not for speculation in this thread are they really? I mean, I'd probably go and talk about that in the Traore thread to stop people going over and over (depending on your stance) his attributes (or lack of), his skills (or lack of) or his stats (or lack of).

To the Traore thread with you.

A transaction may not happen on your timetable for approximately one million reasons, of which you probably know precisely zero. No-one wants to hear your agenda-filled guesses.

Have West Ham, Arsenal or Man Utd strengthened? Are they not also going for the same 4th spot? It's the January window, there is a week to go yet, it's easy enough and possibly fair to point to previous windows but as stated numerous times we are under a different model now when it comes to transfers, its not like FP just flashes £20m at Wolves and he becomes a Spurs player, selling club, buying club and player all have to be aligned, if any one of them has a doubt or needs a replacement etc then the deal stalls, we have had enough years of getting to understand this, keep faith we will make signings this month i am sure.

I don't think West Ham, Utds or Arsenals squad is in quite as poor a state as ours, nor have they recently brought in a top 5 manager in who has publically demanded backing. We have a lot more to lose than those 3 by not going hard.

Of course but there is no reason to assume we are not backing the manager, he said himself it is always very difficult in January but come Saturday/Sunday players that we would have been told categorically no chance can all of a sudden become available, it's a totally different market to the summer and still plenty of time, i seriously doubt DL brought Conte to the club paying him huge wages only to not back him in the transfer window but unfortunately its the January window we are in rather than the summer window, i think we will be busy over the next week for sure.
