It's to do with profile.

For instance, Arsenal offered Raphina more money than Barcelona but he still chose to move to Barce due to their prestige. Unfortunately when we're up against these elite clubs we're always going to miss out. We just need to be smarter with identifying targets earlier that will improve the team.

The catch however is that our manager currently wants established players that can slot right in and have an impact. There's certainly still targets we can identify and move for before our rivals.

I actually have loved our past few windows under FP/AC. There's something that I adore about the fact that Conte wants X player and some of our fanbase will throw fits screaming that that player is not good enough, only for the player to turn around and be good enough. I think if we do win something with the "island of misfit toys" approach it will make it that much sweeter for myself while I watch our rivals spend astronomical fees for players that aren't much better...

Kulu and Bentancur are great examples of this. I've been pleased with Lenglet, although I was convinced by others he'd be the worst signing in our history. It seems that FP/AC were on to something with Amrabat as well, as he's shining on the biggest stage so far. So can't wait to see who the next underwhelming link or two is haha

I know we don't have the squad space really right now for him, but I hope we sign McKennie purely on this basis. FP seems to really rate him and if he does break through into a world class player we will be gutted we didn't go for him now.

I was pretty vocal about Lenglet being a success at Spurs - these really are the type of players we should be buying, potential world class players that have been having a patchy season or so with their club, but mainly due to club issues not player issues. Obvious current examples are De Vrij, Dumfries, McKennie and Lemar - i'm sure there's others out there too.

Keep doing God's work Ivan!

Really don't see this one happening unless we get top four and Chelsea don't, even then will be a stretch (I imagine Kovacic is in his ear in exactly the same way).

Would love to do a double raid on Leipzig for him and Olmo but with Nkunku also likely to go to Chelsea I can't see them selling everyone...

Kudus from Ajax/Ghana feels like the absolute perfect rotation player with Kulusevski

Yeah was thinking this. But I doubt Ajax will sell him in Jan(which is when we're reportedly trying to sign cover for Kulu) considering how many players they lost in the summer.

Not sure we’d find a more like-for-like Kulusevski understudy than Skov Olsen ?
Belgian press reported last week that he is being followed by Spurs and that he would be intensively scouted at the World Cup
Several weeks ago they said the same and that he was already followed prior to his move to Italy.

Their model is sell for a decent amount and buy cheaper. If his price jumps notably in the WC, which seemingly it will now, then they will want to cash in whilst his stock is high.

In the summer they sold Anthony but bought Bergwijn and Conceicao, sold Martinez and Shuurs but bought Bassey and Kaplan, sold Haller but bought Brobbey, sold Tagliafico but bought Wijndal. The only player they didn't replace with an incoming was Gravenberch but they were already fairly well stacked for MF players.

I've no doubt they will sell Kudus in January now and either use Conceicao and wait until the summer to get a replacement or buy someone cheaper from the funds in Jan - they will have a list of players they want to bring in and make a profit on next.

Its time to bank on that relationship with Ajax. We do like a transfer from them with a high success rate too.

They didn't want to sell Antony though unless they got silly money. So Man U offered them silly money.

I suspect their stance will be the same for Kudus, but we're not Man U so won't offer silly money.

Different situation though, Antony was already rated at about EUR35m before the summer. So yes at EUR75m Man Utd definitely overpaid for him but with Ten Haag going to Utd it was fairly obvious that Ajax could hold out for a higher amount.

With Kudus he is valued at around EUR15m at the moment and the manager situation doesn't come into play. He's also about the only remotely decent player his agent has on his books, so the chances of an agent wanting a big payday are there as well. I think both the player and agent will push for a move and then it will just be a case of which club pays up. I reckon he'll go for about EUR40m.
