Thanks for the goals Jermain, you'll always be high up our all-time scoring lists and I'm glad he got the European record - it'll be a very long time before anyone scores more goals for us than he did.

Not good enough for us any more and doesn't fit the modern way of playing, but he has been a good servant and I hope he absolutely tears it up in the MLS.

Good luck to him.

Remember when he came on vs Arsenal in the Kaboul 3-2 game. He'd been out for months, and played that brilliant header through to Bale.

Very inconsistent, frustratingly so, but a fantastic goal scorer who always put in a shift.

Farewell JD, truly beginning to feel like the end of an era now. Defoe, Keane, Huddlestone, King, Robbo gone. At least we still have Lennon and Dawson, both of whom are a good chance to stay for their career.

i remember in 04/05 and he was lined to £20m Barca, he'd be perfect just banging in the teed up shots.

He's been a very good player for us, not a great player, and i often forget his value/worth in goals until you compare him to the tross some of the league has. Obviously, like any fans we tend to continue to look at Messi compared to El Haj Douf.

I will mention that manager after manager has seen his value, if only as a impact player in the latter years. He is hailed by pundits and pro's as a true 'natural finisher' and his mini-backlift pocket rocket shot has given us pleasure over 100 times.

A side from the field, we should not forget the personal strife the man has faced and must be commended in the way he has handled some horrible situations. A lesser man would have not and JD can hold his head high. True to his testament he loves playing football, loves playing for Spurs and recognizes his fortunate position. If only all players could hold this mentality in the modern game. Despite the losses and the lifestyle JD has made a huge impact in the community. Many players 'give' to chairty but JD has made a material difference to peoples lives. If ever you get to see the clip where young-adults thank JD for his guidance and time you'll see him breakdown in tears. To be fair I was near tears as numerous people can honestly say "you saved my life".

I wish him all the best in the MLS, I hope his positioning and ability will see him take the league by storm.

Good luck JD!

I have the highest respect for him. People on here treat him like dirt and it disgusts me.
  • He was our top scorer in 04-05 and 09-10- the season we got into the CL!
  • He scored 5 in 1 match, which is incredibly rare
  • He's our 5th all time goal-scorer and no one will overtake him for a long time
  • Most European goals by one player in a Spurs shirt
  • Second highest PL appearances for us
FOR FUCKS SAKE, what else does he have to do to be a spurs legend?

One of the great players for the club and people forget that he scored quite a few goals for us in the first half of last season. For one reason or another, he hasn't been able to score in the PL since March.

In fact, his goal against City was one my favourite, if not my all-time favourite goal from JD. It meant a lot at the time.

Great Finish!

I like the guy and I think he'll do very well indeed in MLS

I guess he was just one of those players who never had the consistency in his game to take it to the next level

We've had a few like that over the years, but it doesn't mean they don't try hard or bring a smile to our faces once in a while

Anyway, good luck Jermain - hope you enjoy Canada

Glad there is time for us to give him the send off he deserves. Hope he gets a standing ovation on his last game in our colours probably be 27th Feb against Dnipro at WHL. Our all time European top goal scorer going out with a bang in the Europa League ;)

Wish him well in Toronto but for some reason or another never been a massive fan of his. Always thought that there was even more in him but it just never materialised.

My favourite moment was the first time he was offside..... but then I'm nostalgic like that.

Only joking :)..

The 4 goals against Wigan is up there but I also remember the Hat trick away against Hull when we won 5-1.... He was on fire then.

Every year when he used to start like that I thought this is the year when he'll adapt his game and take it up a level but it never happens.

He deserves far more respect than he's given on here though and I wish him well in Canada.

The Jermain Salute

Linesman-001.jpg

Yellow flags should be issued to our supporters for his final appearance, to be raised in this fashion in tribute as he leaves the pitch for the last time.
