The kids likely to go out on loan...

So, Im as excited as the next man (or woman) about the Champs League and us playing Young Boys to get into the groups... But, Im almost just as excited about some of our own Young Boys going out on loan and actually getting some experience at a decent level (the lack of transfers in has caused this I think).

Can anyone ITK or more clued up than me give me a run down of our best youth/reserve prospects and where they might end up this season?

So far Ive got:

Livermore - Leeds
Caulker - Leeds/Plymouth
Bostock - Hull
Townsend - Southampton
Obika - Plymouth

Id like the lads to go to Leeds and Hull as I think a season at championship level would be great. The League one option isnt so bad with Reid incharge of Plymouth and Southampton being fancied for the title. Id prefer that they all went to lower Prem clubs so they get used to playing top flight, but thats a bit fanciful at the moment.

But what about the others? Parret and Mason are meant to be looking positve for the future, Rose exploded onto our screens in the Gooner Derby match and the Kyles are still meant to be progressing well, are they likely to be going anywhere?

Also, with this and maybe next season spent on loan, anyone else thinking that 2012 could be the year of the kids in Lillywhite colours?

I can see Parrat going to a top league 2 club or a middle/lower league one team for half a season, see how he does, maybe in the second half of the season move him to a better team. Mason, might be worth keeping him until his physical training has been completed. He did very well at yeovil last season, could maybe do a job in the championship

I think Rose will stay with us, especially the first half of the season.

I just hope the new FM properly rates our young'uns

Leeds are after Livermore and Parrett.

I can't see Rose going now.

That's a bit arrogant really.

Its about learning toughness, getting match experience when you're often up against it. Our lads would have to stand up and be counted at league 2 level, not just play like kids.

It is a slightly arrogant stance, but anyone we want to see bursting through and actually adding to our first team should be capable of playing at a fairly high level already, assuming they are aged 18-20. Its only my opinion though, I can see your argument

Parratt I beleive is someone they are aiming for a good championship side. Looking at Premier league for Naughton and Walker.

That would be fantastic! It seems odd however how these players were playing much lower last season than they appear to be set for this season. Ie Bostock was at a midtable league 1 side and has now joined a top championship club. Parrett was at a league 2 side and is now targetting championship. Naughton couldnt make the boro side but is now targetting the prem.

What league were Bournemouth in when Defoe went on loan to them from West Ham and scored in a record number of games running? I may be wrong but I am sure they were in league 2 (or whatever it was at the time)

To me there was nothing wrong with the level for him and it seemed to be played perfectly in aiding his development, indeed the very same lad has gone on to play Premier league football scoring frequently and has played for his country at the highest level scoring in a World cup and will also now be playing and hopefully scoring in the Champions League.

So its not really fair to say a player being loaned to a league two club will not have what it takes to do the business in our team (assuming I am correct about Bournemouth being league two of course)

Who knows a loan in a higher league at the time may not have been as beneifical and he may not have gone on to become the play he is today. (ok maybe thats extreme, but it certaily wasn't the end to his ability to make it at the top level anyway)

Southampton are heavy favourites to win the league this year so you would think they should atleast be in the mix for promotion til the end and if Townsend goes there and plays he will be doing so in a successful team with players who can make use of what he does.

I think where ever we loan clubs we should be looking to get them in mostly winning sides. Not so much that they are not tested because they are in a team who crush everyone, but good enough to allow them to really express themselves and get used to winning (whilst still appreciated the work rate required to get a win)

Mpoku's probably our most effective u18 player statistically. The guys always scoring or creating. As he isn't really a big name, it will be interesting to see what happens with him this season.

Your right, I remember when he first came and whoever it was that used to give us feed back from the youth teams would constantly report back signing praises of this kid and say he really looked the business.

Will be very interesting to see if he is part of our loan spell plans.

Couldn't agree more. A winning mentality is the reason that the sucesful teams stay sucesful even when they have weeker squads than ours.

Sherwood has already said the kids going out on loan is about seeing what football is all about when it really matters rather than being pampered millionaire wannabees. There was an article recently where he said the actual performance on the pitch is a tiny part of what they monitor when they go out on loan
