I have always thought loaning players to a team in the same league is wrong but what Chelsea have done is unbelievable. By loaning lukaku to everton, chelsea they have a world class player taking points of all there competitors every week. I know we loan plenty out to but livermore etc is nt going to do the same damage. They have over 15 good players on loan. that's a whole squad of players that would probably get top 8 on there own. should nt be allowed imho

Just 2 seasons ago we had Adebayor on loan. I don't think many of us were complaining. In the end, the loan hurts Chelsea as Lukaku is their best striker yet they decided to ship him off.

I disagree. They loaned out the striker they so badly need. A young strong lad who is in the form of his life.

There should be an age limit of 21, maybe 22 for loans IMO. I also would ban loans within the same division. Lukaku is only 20 so they are within their rights to loan him out for me, I do think it was a stupid decision though as they need him!

I have more of a problem with loans like gareth Barry, Marin and even adebayor when he was with us.

Also have a look at parma they have over 200 players out on loan (not an exaggeration!!!)

I agree with this, when a player is at that level it can make quite a difference.

I wouldn't allow loan players in the premier league, the system should only be used for developing young players. Any player over 21 should be at his club.

ha no one here was complaining when city did the same thing and gave us Ade who was scoring and assisting for fun. And paid half of his wages also!
Think Wenger complained at the time, good for Everton I say

I can't take any post seriously that describes Lukaku as world class

Agree 100% with the thread

No way should you be able to loan out players to teams in the same division as your competing in.

Not only does it allow title challenging teams to strengthen lesser teams that could take points off their direct competitors for the title but when it comes to say Chelsea v Everton, Everton’s best player is not allowed to play!!!!

Creates an even more uneven playing field. Do these teams with Billionaire owners need even more of an advantage!?!?!?

The loan system us a farce, at least how Chslsea hoard players and lend them our in order to take points off rivals. The only way to stop this abuse is let tgem play against their parent club.

Yea but it will work out in their favour as his game time at Everton (and WBA) is optimising his development and they've still retained his contract should they decide they want him in the future

They haven't lost out by loaning him out - they stand to greatly benefit

If the loan system weren't in place they may have had to sell him instead and then they would have lost out.

For the record I think the loan system is a good thing although I don't really agree with loaning to clubs in the same league and I think there should be a cap/limit to the amount of loanees a club can have or a limit to over all squad size including loaned out players

Limit the number of players a club can have registered to them at any one time to stop the mega rich clubs buying all and every talented youngster and stock piling to see who comes good. (though I'm sure rich clubs would just start selling to clubs with buyh back clauses to circumvent any such restrictions anyway)

Personally I think you should be allowed a squad of a certain size & anyone not picked for the squad should be sold, or if they can't be released from contract.

I suspect there are some problems with that approach, but I've given it 2 minutes thought which I believe adequate

I've never liked the loan system if it's used for anything other than giving young players (u21) game time.
I even felt uneasy about us having Ade on loan, sort of felt like cheating .
I don't think any team in the richest league in the world has any excuse for having players on loan, especially those who are over 21.

Agree in part but we are also guilty of this. Problem with putting an age limit of loans is that with there already being an age limit on the "reserves" now then some players are going to end up on the scrap heap.

I think it's better if they just limit the loans so each club can only loan out 1 player aged over 21 and none to the same league. That stops the stock piling of players and also the competition issue.
