As @allatsea said, it’s because he was one of our own (albeit many years ago). But didn’t feel it was right to put it in Spurs chat.

If it had been Warnock or someone else, then sure.
I do concede that point.

I can totally understand why the fans are fuming as well, and good on them for showing their anger and cancelling their season tickets, it's the best way to show they disagree with the club's decision.

But as I said in the other thread...

It does seem harsh but Brighton had an awful second half of the season, they looked like they were going to stay well clear of relegation but ended up right in the mire and were only really saved by the fact that three teams performed worse than them.

Brighton have surely seen that Norwich went down in Chris' second PL season there and thought a repeat of that was too close.

He'll get more chances, certainly at a good Championship club if not in the bottom half of the PL next time a vacancy arises.

Unless they've got someone pretty impressive lined up this could be an utterly stupid move.
Absolutely. Even then, putting aside how brutally they’ve done it, it’s a huge risk.

He turned that club around and got the best that could be expected from the players at his disposal. I don’t see how anyone could do more.

Everyone knows that he’s said to be a very nice guy. Maybe they felt that he was unlikely to kick up a fuss and so had no qualms over treating him that harshly...

Yeah sure they had a poor second half to the season.....not many teams do that:wideyed:

But to do what he has done, with that squad is a miracle. Hardly a squad with any real quality.

Was it a player - manager clash that caused them to not win in 2nd half of season?
I haven't seen reports of it but it's very clear that the summer signings they made last year by and large flopped badly this season. They brought in loads of players and that must have caused some dressing room friction when Hughton reverted to playing a full 2017/18 XI in the most important games towards the end.

But that's nothing but speculation on my part. Only three points from their last nine games is ultimately what has done for Chris, sadly.

There’s no denying that their second half season form was abysmal.

The thing that occurs to me though is that perhaps it was actually that their first half season form was better than expected and the second half form was their actual level.

Possibly, and they certainly won't helped by any of their summer or January signings in this campaign. They signed a lot of players and pretty much all of them have been complete flops.

Maybe that has also played on the owner's mind, maybe he didn't want Hughton to have control over signings after such a bad year in the market.

Not a surprise really. Watching some of their games in the promotion season they were pretty grim to watch and knew they needed to improve and TBH they have gone backwards this season.

Whoever gets the job has a lot of work to do but a lot of that will be moving on the crap Hughton signed. Locardia, Andone, Jahanbakhsh? These players weren't cheap.

They have had terrible luck / judgement when it comes to signings, agreed. Andone is the one that springs most readily to mind.

Fair to say they haven't got much out of any of those players. Jahanbakhsh seems to have done a Janssen, Montoya lost his place to 38 year old Bruno, they've been pretty shocking.

"David Wagner" probably.

Signing a "David Wagner", who stands for structure and hard work would be fine for Brighton. However, I think they will sign a Spanish-speaking manager to get some tiki-taka flair to their stadium.

If they do, they will go down next season.

Then again, I thought Watford would struggle under Gracia. Got that one wrong.

I think they will. Gracia is not a typical Spanish manager imo. Maybe because he's Basque.
