Considering he took them from bottom of the championship to the premier league in one season and then kept them up for a year, I think he deserved some slack. Sums up a lot of what I don't like about football right now. Money is the only important thing.

Forest already struggles to score so I'm not sure how hiring the guy who couldn't get Harry Kane to score regularly is going to help.

Good luck to Forest on this one.

They seem to have decided to try and solve their lack of goals by appointing a manager who contested Mourinho and Conte for being one of our most negative managers ever.

Nuno struck gold with Wolves as their owners and mendes connections meant they bought a team that was way too good for the championship and he rode that wave for a bit in the premier league until he got found out a bit.

He was beyond awful for us and has been at most of the other jobs he’s taken.

I think he’ll be terrible for Forest and could well take them down.

Depends if he's still there next season. Won't drop this season unless Luton somehow put a run together.

I've discarded Burnley and Sheff U already.
Yeah I think some poor teams are going to stay up this season based on how weak the promoted teams are.

I can see Forest getting sucked into it tbh mate. Slowly over the 2nd half of the season I can see Luton possibly putting a run together, Sheff.Utd under Wilder could also scrape some points together.

So far the bottom two are on course for 18 point seasons, while Luton are on course for 21. Forest's current PPG has them on course for 31.

I think we will see a new record for the lowest points total ever seen in 17th place, but I still don't think any of the bottom three will improve enough to take Forest (edit: even if Forest's level drops further)

I was about to come in here and say that their idea may have been to have a little bit of stability this season (ie look comfortable knowing the bottom 3 are really poor) and plan for the future with a coach who brings a lot more exciting football.

Like what Bournemouth did. A project.

Nope.

Thats clearly Mendes in the owners ear considering Nuno had recently come available.

Nuno was the right man at the right time for Wolves, earned promotion and had a couple of great seasons in the premier league followed by an awful one. He's a journeyman manager at heart, only still somewhat early in his globetrotting escapades. The Portuguese Ranieri

I like Steve Cooper but I don’t get this narrative about him being unlucky. He has spent an absolute fortune and been backed with literally dozens of signings every season he was there.

He hasn't spent it, he's been told to make magic with whatever the owner decides to bring in on a whim. I seriously doubt he's personally been involved in signing more than about five. He wanted Morgan Gibbs-White, that's the only signing I know was his.

I’m not sure about that but will bow to your better knowledge. Whenever I’ve seen him interviewed he’s always complemented the owner on the players and backing he’s received . I think a lot of chairman would have pulled the trigger by now.

Did he actually want those signings though ?

Ranieri a far better manager than Nuno, also much more personality.

I think up to the point Nuno came to coach us, he had done ok. His final season for Wolves was poor but finishing 13th is not a complete disaster by their standards. Whilst his three previous seasons were pretty good.

But things went so badly for him here that it’s hard to take him seriously. He was a terrible fit for the club and he was coming off a bad season at Wolves where I think even he admitted to feeling burned out.

Then there was the whole thing about him being the twentieth manager we had approached that summer and there were the Kane shenanigans too.

There was no real buy-in from the fans either and most of us wanted a return to some exciting football after Mourinho (the whole Spurs DNA thing)… and instead we got Nuno.

There was probably never a good time for him to join us but maybe he would have done better if he had joined us while we still had a bit of swagger about us and he was at his high point with Wolves.

It will be interesting to see how he does at Forest.
