Very very good point! Wasn't too many fans either complaining about the constant media speculation surrounding Jack grealish, well there was but not for that reason *LOL, football is dog eat dog. I remember Rupert Lowe being incandescent with rage when we took Glenn Hoddle from Southampton. Every 2 minutes Sky Sports were getting former Spurs players on the television waxing lyrical about Hoddle leaving for Spurs.

Not sure anyone can expect respect from people that hack dead school girls phones. They will do anything for a story.

I'd only put him on gardening leave if and only if he informed the players he was leaving at the end of the season. Could you imagine what that would do to team morale? I honestly don't think he will leave and the longer this runs without any word from Spurs the more likely he is to stay.

If that were the case why not just get a new manager in now and let poch go? He's on roughly £165k a week.

Whether or not he goes its up to him.

If he stays it confirms that he believes in us and that will give us a big boost in moral, performance and a "feel good" factor across the whole spectrum of the club, which should ultimately result in trophies. It would also confirm that he understands our financial dilemma (unlike most fans) and would not use that against us as leverage. If this is the case he should (in my opinion) come out and say it now for the benefit of the fans and players, and put this newsmongering to bed.

If he decides to leave, it tells a different story. Part of that being that he was never fully into us and was just using us as a means to an end. We could then put down his managerial performances for us as having the ulterior motive as a window dressing to be observed by his "bigger" club while doing a good job for us. So in that case I would say good riddance. It would be hard but we would survive. Again in my opinion if he want out, at least let the board know now so they can start to do their planning for next season.

The thing about this Manu saga that has me really angry, is the total disrespect for Tottenham Hotspur as a club with regard to our Board, players and supporters, from the press and other so called experts.

To be fair Manu is within their right to enquire about Poch if they so wish as long as it is done through the proper channels, but no ones know whether or not they are interested in him, its all wild speculation. Of course Poch would be a good fit for them, but to listen to a journalist (Darren Lewis from the Mirror talking on Talksport) actually say "The world needs Manchester United as it is the biggest club in the world, so if it takes Poch to fix it, then Manchester United should go out and get him." So what? So its right to go and dismantle and upheave a club that is doing much better than Manu, and use them as a sacrifice so that Manu can be brought back to past glories? What arrogance! Unfortunately his views are echoed by most of the press. In other words, fuck Tottenham!

I have always suspected that in the past 4 or 5 years that we having progressed from "nearly rans" to cementing ourselves as top four and credible contenders to the title, has not gone well with a lot of the press. They have been begrudging in our good performances and scathing in any bad results or loses we have endured. It is as if we are just pretenders with no right to be where we are, especially as we have spent fuck all, unlike the others. Now they have found a way to destabilise us and are happy to see us go "back to where we belong". If what I am saying is not true, then why arent the remaining managers from the top 6 clubs, namely Klopp, Pep, Emery and Sarri not being targeted as well? After all, all four managers could also do the job.

I, like most of you, would dearly love him to stay but we have to accept and prepare for the worst just in case.

Agree with every word. One thing I just don't get. Why is it that the media narrative is that clubs that have been successful in the past deserve to be successful in the future? As if the aim of the game is not the sporting success of the best team at a given time, but rather the enhancement of existing brands.

Tottenham have a better team, better squad, better manager, better stadium and better training facilities then united - why is it then that united are perceived to deserve more success than Tottenham.

I would like nothing more than to see man united relegated, so this fallacy can end.

Its a good point but I don't think we could get somebody to leave mid season but I honestly think he will stay. The only way he goes IMHO is if there is no money available in the Summer Window.

Remember that United haven't approached Spurs or Poch about the job yet... not as far as I'm aware anyway. How is Poch meant to say "no" to a job that he hasn't even been offered yet?

If he said no the papers would write their stories anyway. Then if United offer £100m for him in the summer and Levy takes it Poch would look pretty stupid. There's nothing to be gained from it.

The only people who would apparently be satiated by a "no" from Poch are the sorts of people who wouldn't believe it anyway and would take the pessimistic approach that money conquers all.

United have some very winnable games over Xmas. If they win all of them the story is gonna be about how OGS has got them playing well again and could be a long-term fit. Then Liverpool play City and the stories will be about the title race. Then the league cup semis will play out and the story will be about the teams in the final. And on... and on... and on...

Chill. :meh:

Lol. Didn't hear many spurs fans talk about disrespect when we were getting poch from soton.

If you don't like what the press are saying stop reading their articles. If they are not making money from those stories they will stop writing them.
@Lilbaz what was there to disrespect? I may be wrong but I if I recall correctly we did not poach Poch. Poch was going to leave anyway because of the handling of Cortese by board and the subsequent selling of key players against Poch's wishes. Its just that our Daniel was quick on the situation and had him first. I also recall Daniel was actually after Louis Van Gaal to replace Sherwood, but he opted for Manu and actually said at the time that he did so as Manu was the bigger club. That I do remember because it has grated me over the years!

Don't remember anything about poch being ready to quit. Yes we were looking at van gaal but we still got poch. Les reed said we were in talks with poch for a long while before we got him. The papers also were reporting we were after him. Just as they are reporting utd are after poch now.

I don't think it will be a case of him just simply completely disregarding Spurs if he leaves. It's impossible to know what he's thinking, whether he views Man United as simply too big a club to turn down if he got the chance or if he'd rather continue his incredible project with Spurs, which is unfinished. But I think one issue may be whether he will be given the resources to finish or achieve his goal and whether he wants a new personal challenge.

Can you blame him if he wants to leave because we can't acquire players he deems necessary to take us to the next level? I'm not sure I can, personally. He's managed by large the same set of players for the last 2/3 seasons. This was his team in a game in the 16/17 season:

  • 1Lloris
  • 16Trippier
  • 4Alderweireld
  • 5Vertonghen
  • 3Rose
  • 15Dier
  • 19Dembélé
  • 11Lamela
  • 20Alli
  • 23Eriksen
  • 10Kane
Take Lamela out for Son and this is arguably our best 11 even now and probably at the end of the season too. Yes we have a better squad, but my point is that he may just not want to feel deja vu every season in regards to what we achieve.

I'd personally like to think that if he's able to add to the team what he thinks would have us challenging for the title and with a full season in the new stadium that he would like to stay.

Unfortunately, without him actually coming out and confirming one way or another, it's a guessing game.

Unfortunately, like most things in life, there's a food chain. It's no different here. We have done fantastically well since Poch took charge, cementing a top 4 place consistently, which given our financial clout is an unbelievable achievement. It's never been so good in my lifetime as a fan.

But Man Utd are way above us in the food chain, regardless of recent seasons. They have unbelievable achievements in the modern game, are 1 of the top 2 biggest clubs in the world, and can pay whatever wages they please. So regardless of what Poch does, my point is in relation to the Utd fans who many are angry at because of their sense of entitlement at securing Poch as their manager. It's the food chain.

When Poch came from Southampton, were any of us considering the job he'd done there with what he had at his disposal so he might not want to leave? No. It was the case of we're a bigger club so unlucky to all you Southampton fans. If Poch went and we went for Eddie Howe, we would fully expect him to come, because we're a much bigger club. Sod Bournemouth, who cares?! To me, there's no difference. As much as I hate utd I understand their thinking to be honest.

I really hope he stays. He might be the best manager I see at Spurs.

This is the reason everyone regardless of what team they support should stop buying their papers ?

That Delaney is a massive chancer. He said 2 days ago Mourinho wouldn’t be sacked.

He also said in the summer that Poch had a Real Madrid release clause. When I pulled him up on it as a lie (which it turned out to be) be got abusive. He’s a complete charlatan and bullshit merchant.

Good post but Manure dont owe us anything and dont need to be respectful towards us, but we add another £10m onto the price tag. Unfortunately it is the food chain - doesnt make them any less ****ish but we will end up doing the same to whoever we will try to poach their manager from (Howe I reckon).
Exactly what I said. I was not blaming them as they did nothing wrong

He was going to leave. If we didnt get him he would be somewhere else. Then we would be moaning at Levy for not trying to get him when at the time we needed to replace Sherwood.
