Did anyone actually read the Sky article? It says that Poch is Real’s target, but dont believe Poch has any reason to want to leave. How can we angry about that?
Exactly.
Of course he's on their radar, he's done an excellent job here and it's being noticed.

Yeah. I think it's the first time I've read a pundit saying he thinks Poch will turn down Real to stay at Spurs.

Is there a ‘worse’ big job for Poch than Real?

Think about how he builds his teams, the ethos, the all for one, work till you drop motto etc

Now just look at Real. It’s a basket case full of egos from top to bottom and plenty of player power going on there.

It could be a good time to take the job now. The biggest stars are getting old, and selling off Cristiano, Bale, Benzema and Modric could be acceptable both for the fans and Perez. Then he could build up a squad with players he can hand pick.

That said, no way Poch leaves Spurs this summer, with the new stadium looming.

Madrid is a 2-3 year job tops. I don't think Poch is ready to start job hopping.

But, if the threat gets Levy to shoot the lock of the chequebook - who am I to complain?

Only a Spurs fan would say this. Reality check. Football is ruthless and if Poch is interested in managing Real Madrid the prospect of a new stadium will not stop him. We can barely afford the wages to keep our best players.

See in terms of financial expenditure you are right but that just proves we are a very well run club

Also this isnt something poch is responsible for, this would be the same regardless of manager.

Not to mention, the net spend expenditure is a simplistic way of looking at a squad. As it doesnt take in to account how much our squad is worth or we inherited when poch came in. For example an ageing squad in that time would lose its value as it players start regress, whereas a younger squads value would go up, of course poch has been a reason for this in our case.

When assessing a business you take in to account its assets, our assets unlike most of the top 6 have increased their value a lot due to their development. If tomorrow clubs were to sell all their players we would be around 2nd or 3rd.

My original statement of us achieving par is based on the squad and players we have like:
Top scorer in the premier league for the last 2 seasons plus second highest scorer in the season before
One of the most creative players in the league (eriksen)
IMO the best fullbacks in the league for 2 of the last 3 seasons
The best CB in the league in Alderweireld
One of the top keepers

Just because we are a very well run club in a business sense doesnt mean are drastically punching above our weight, after all we were beaten to the title with a club less than half our budget.

I understand the argument you are making and it is a very fair one, but the counter to it is that many of those players have been improved, in some cases vastly (our FB's for example) and made into the players they are, by Pochettino's work.

The contrast would be someone like Redknapp who had probably 5/6/7 top drawer players King/Gallas/Parker/Modric/Bale/Adebayor/VDV - as well as Walker/Rose (if you happen to think they are top class - I don't) and couldn't achieve what Pochettino did, in terms of results and consistent performances.

I think it's fair to review and judge the performance of the team based on what they are "now" as opposed to "what they are compared to their salaries and transfer fees etc" but we have to be fair and say Poch heavily contributed to that "now" and possibly, even based on how good he made them, still perhaps over achieved in outperforming 2/3 of the best clubs in this league. IMO.

There's an article in the Mail about Real contacting Poch's "associates" to potentially get him to go there.

It's a good thing Poch negotiates his own contracts, since he has no agent or "associates".

I saw they'd purposely not said agents.

Balague was talking about it yesterday but at the same time he said Poch doesn't want to leave Spurs. It was basically him trying to get his mate a new contract and more money as far as I saw.

But as it's us you wouldn't bet on this happening just before we go into the new stadium. It's the kind of thing that would happen to us

It's quite simple - Levy knows we have arguably one of the top 5 managers in World football also the only one of the top 20 who will work within Levy's vision. He has to make him an eye watering offer and get him to sign a new long term contract. Securing Poch is how you get Toby, Kane, Eriksen, Dele etc. to sign new deals too.

I'd offer Poch a 10 year deal with a one year notice period for each side, and guarantee him he will always earn more than the highest paid player. Hercules ITK about off the pitch backing suggests we have key financial support in place to support such a deal and whoever the backers are must realise that Poch is key to our success in the next 3-5 years.

Poch has also previously said that the premier league is the only place to manage.

This has also come out the day after Mourinho signs his new contract. It's a bit convenient that the papers link him away with the only job that might sway him to leave now the Man Utd door has firmly closed.

Even if Poch wanted to manage madrid, I just don’t think he’s ready for it yet. He’s still learning as a manager himself and his stock is rising year on year, but a move to Madrid in the next 4-5yrs could ruin his reputation. Working with mega-stars a at times hostile crowd and an over political club just don’t seen to fit with Poch’s philosophies at the moment.

When he’s older, wiser, more seasoned as a manager then yes, I could see him going there, just not now. I’ve said it may timed before, I’m more worried him going to United, and Mourinho effectively earning himself a bigger pay off has me even more worried.

I think it’s great that our players and manager are so good that the biggest clubs in the world want them. Shows how far we’ve come.
Every time we’re in the news our profile improves. Can’t see poch going their, they have a big rebuild going on that’s gonna take time and you don’t get that at real. Plus he’d be replacing a cult hero.
From our point of view, if poch did go I don’t think it would be the end for spurs. Think there are a lot of top manager that would love to manage here and the foundations are now in place.

Just remember we are playing Man United on Wednesday. Rumours of everyone leaving will surface. It’s just Mourinho getting his PR team to mess with our heads.

The media aren't going to let this go are they, fuckers
You can't blame them, theres papers to sell and clicks to gather. There's a very small list of people who Madrid would want and if you were in charge of them you'd be doing a pretty poor job if he wasn't at least on your list. If we're going to be successful, this kind of thing goes with the territory.
