I liked your post because of the comittment you showed (not the kicker hilarity). You started the draft in England, endured through the tunnel and finished on the continent. Love it.
Thanks, I did my best! I only actually had signal for about half of my picks, but the auto pick didn't do badly as long as I had a few priorities queued when I did get online.

I think there's a lot of strong teams this year, hard to pick a winner amongst that lot as they all look imposing. Here's to season 10!

The Pats simulating a snap count on defense to draw a false start? Nah. That would be cheating and the Pats never cheat.

The defense isn't as bad as I feared. The DL and LBers have been better than expected but the secondary sucks. Though things would have looked a lot better if we hadn't missed those two FGs and had that Heyward-Bey TD chalked off.

So we lose to packers, was expected.

What I wasn't expecting was such a tight scoreline and game (until Cutler threw the int). To be fair to Cutler he actually was having a good game up until he threw that, his stats weren't fantastic but we did ok and kept in there, if we had to got that TD it wouldve been a very interesting end to the game. Forte is going to be a big player for us this season, he will be our key to winning games.

Packers still have the issue of giving away cheap penalties, if it wasnt for that they probably would have won the game by a bigger scoreline, must be frustrating for Rodgers at time but I still fancy them to be there or thereabouts at the end. Very good game next week I reckon, Packers Seahawks.

Pretty happy with my first week on fantasy. Expected Titans to do well so I got both Sankey and Wright. Only played 1 rather than both though!

Well Marcus Mariota looks a bit alright, doesn't he? If he keeps this up my weakness at the QB position doesn't look so shabby after all...

Mariota is a massive breath of fresh air. Nobody is getting carried away yet though, it's been a horrible last 7 years for this team.

On a side note, the Bucs are absolutely awful.

Looks like another long ol' season for the Raiders and that might be exacerbated if Carr's injury is more severe that initially thought.

Cooper looks a player though and Murray will prove a real workhorse but definitely need some additional help.

If Aldon Smith can get his act together then he and Mack will prove a dynamite duo but obviously some big question marks surround him.

I've been watching a lot of the BBC 'best of last season' videos for the NFL, and is it just me or is the standard of tackling absolutely terrible?

Yes there are some bloody quick blokes involved, and yes there is more blocking allowed to stop people getting to the player with the ball, but still in one-on-one tackling situations it looks like the tackling is woeful.

Just looking at that Broncos touchdown last night, once the guy picked it up, he makes it look like an easy run-in, but in reality the Chiefs guy just makes no attempt to tackle him, as if the little side step was the most tricksome thing he'd ever seen.

I quite like NFL, although at times it's frustrating to watch, but is the lack of tackling ability a common thing? Reckon they need to get someone like Chris Robshaw out there to teach them.

I'm no expert but I think that it's maybe not always so easy? I can spot bad tackling, but I think that maybe it's tougher than it can look. I remember watching a live video cam where they wired up a quarterback. I couldn't believe how fast things happened from his perspective and you could see the power that these guys hit you with.

Maybe Google some film of great NFL tackles of last season and see if you are impressed or if it still looks bad?

I love rugby but know it's a very different game. You'd think it might be an easy transition but maybe not? I mean, the money a decent NFL player earns vs a rugby player must mean they occasionally try their hand at it? I'd be interested to see what they think and if maybe it is harder to tackle in American Footballl vs Rugby?

I don't deny the speed of the game certainly, particularly for the Quarterbacks when there's enormous blokes coming at you from all directions.

It just seems like once someone is up to speed, players find it very hard to tackle them. I'm sure there are exceptions, but if you watch a lot of the punt-return touchdowns for example there's almost always a ludicrous missed tackle somewhere in there.

I think it's because a lot of the defensive players go for 'hits' rather than tackles so if someone makes even the slightest change of direction, they're already hunched with their arms by their sides.

As to the transition between Rugby Union and NFL, I think most rugby stars would actually lack the speed in most situations, and the skill-set, other than tackling, is completely different so I assume that's why there is very little crossover.
