Agreed. Not so much the speed maybe but the sheer acceleration on these guys is staggering. I suppose some of that can be put down to training specifically for each game for decades and maybe if you had swapped a nuffler and an egg chaser round at the age of 10 or 12 they'd adapt quickly enough but I dunno. You'd have to start with someone with pure speed anyway.
Some wingers have top end speeds to match imo. But that acceleration is brutal.
Either way, really impressive athletes on show in either sport. Tough games. in some ways I'm glad I got injured early and decided to go to another sport than rugby even though I adore the game to this very day. Pretty much every one of my friends who has played even low level rugby for the past 20 years has had some rather substantial medical issue. A couple have funny walks that will only get worse with each passing year and they're in the early-mid 30's. The forces the pros get subjected at the top levels of either sport make my eyes water.
