Just finished watching both championship games. Yes, there was the bad call in the Patriots favour, when the Jags should have been allowed to take the interception on, but Brady/Patriots still came up with the goods when the pressure was on and they were down and lost one of their best receivers.

Amazing performance by Foles in the other game, and pretty fucking amazing takes from the receivers for a couple of those TD's. Philadelphia just blew them away.

The XFL is back! ...obviously not the XFL of old coz it's 2018 and a lot of it would be unacceptable now.

Will be interesting to see how they get on.

Any details about it yet?

The press conference to announce its launch is in about 15 mins. The only thing we know is the league will start in 2020 which is about the time the NFL collective bargaining agreement expires and the players possibly go on strike.

From the press conference:
  • will start with 8 teams, 40 man rosters, 10 game season and a 4 team playoff
  • will be a "shorter, fast-paced, family-friendly, and easier to understand game"
  • games will be two hours long
  • less infractions compared to the NFL
  • cities haven't been decided yet
  • anyone with a criminal record can't play in the league (that's Johnny Manziel screwed)
  • the league will have a rule that means the players must stand for the national anthem (like in the NBA)

Also players are supposed to be chosen based on merit, and not on marketability, so Tim Tebow should not automatically get a starting job.

Lots of people claiming how excited they are for the reboot of the XFL which I'm slightly confused by given that it folded the first time round was because nobody watched it

Vince no doubt seeing an opportunity to attract fans who sided with Trump over the NFL national anthem furore.

Alex Smith to the Redskins. Cousins will be playing elsewhere next year. Chiefs are ready to go with Mahomes at QB.

Can't get excited for the superbowl this year for some reason. Just so bored of the Patriots now and wish they'd fuck off. At least if Wentz was starting for the Eagles I'd feel like they can give them a game. While the Eagles have a good team, not having your QB1 for the superbowl is a big big loss IMO, especially against a team with so much superbowl experience. I just can't help but feel it'll be a fairly run-of-the-mill Patriots win but I hope to be proved wrong.

I feel the same about the Patriots, but even though the Eagle don't have Wentz I still think they can beat the Cheatriots. NE are very much a 3rd, or more so, a 4th quarter team from what I've seen of them, what they are very good at is adjusting to the game the later it gets, and that's down to Bellichick and Brady. If the Eagles have done their homework right I think they have a very good shot at winning, and I will be rooting for them on Sunday, especially once I'm drunk and the Pats fans at the Moose Lodge are getting all cocky........:D Either way, the fun of the party is way more fun than the game for me, unless Arizona was playing, which isn't going to happen for a few more millenia :banghead:
Enjoy the game, and on this occasion only.....GO EAGLES (y)

Yeah don't get me wrong, I think the Eagles have a very good team even without Wentz, but I think in the superbowl a lot of additional factors come into play such as leadership etc. and I just can't get over the fact that it's Nick Foles against the greatest QB of all time. I think that will come into play here. Foles had the game of his life against the Vikings but I'm not sure he's going to be able to repeat that on Sunday. I guess we'll find out.

Totally agree. This will be a career defining games for Foles, and I'm looking forward to the game because I think it has the makings of a very good afternoon/evening of football. Oh, and an open bar for 4 hours.................................:woot:
