Today was about as perfect in the top four race as it could have been.

Definitely not ruling Liverpool out yet though. Their next two games are Arsenal and Chelsea - but after that their run in is all games they'd expect to win and our record at Anfield is atrocious. We need to build up a bit of a lead over them when they're playing the tougher fixtures as we've seen Klopp sides show real consistency in the final few weeks of a season when they believe they've got a chance.

Just noticed Man Utd's away record against the current top 9 this season:

P5 L5 F6 A23

Every one of those games they've conceded at least 3 goals. They've still got to go away to Newcastle, us, and Brighton who are also in the top 9.

I'd be surprised if they don't come third, but it may be closer than I first thought. Need them to take something off Newcastle tomorrow though.

They have Chelsea and Arsenal next.

We have Everton and Brighton.

We must take more points than them over the next two games

Its like a slow bicycle race for 4th place, no one seems to want it enough to go out there and put a run of results together, but a draw between Nescashle and Utd does give us a chance to create some daylight, please dont let us down Spurs and lets see some of that new manager bounce.

like the optimism but what's it actually based on?

We currently have a second rate rate defence with an average keeper, a workmanlike midfield and an isolated attack.

That we are fourth is testament to what is a lower quality league competition this season, with only the top two showing any prolonged periods of consistently good football. It's much like the Leicester season.

Unless, the two stooges put out a more attacking line up which gets us on the front foot, and gives us a chance of outscoring the opposition. Remains to be seen.

I think it’s more the instructions that matter than the line up snd formation. If they can play a bit higher up the pitch snd with more freedom then the usual line up will be fine

If we can make it a 2 horse race with Newcastle I’ll feel more confident than with Liverpool as well. Or even better draw man utd into a 3 into 2 places race. Need to get some results first though and hope others go our way.

No way we are catching United, they are so much better than is right now
Casemiro suspended for another three games. Rashford has had a knock and is their only in form forward.

United are still in the FA Cup and Europa League and are odds on favourites to go all the way. Ten Hag has barely rotated all season.

We still have United to play at home.

United are clearly favourites to finish ahead of us but there is still a race to be had.

Agree but only up to a point. 343 pushed up but with no lock picker just means lots of sideways passing, and crosses into the box. If Richarlie could stay fit then him and Kane would be so much better than just Kane to aim at.

Otherwise higher up just means high line, and getting done in behind- we have no pace back there. Gray v
Lenglet doesn’t whet the appetite…
