Out of interest, now Utd are in the final, what’s the position we’d need to finish to avoid Europe next season?

Is it…

5th Europa
6th Europa (due to Utd, City in cup final)
7th Europa (due to Utd winning league cup)
8th Conference
9th No Europe.

is that right? If so I’m stuck between no Europe and Conference. If West Ham can get to the semis then surely we have a frickin chance to win it. It might be a made up cup but believe me if West Ham win it, their fans won’t let us forget it ever.

Or we’ll get kicked out of it again.

I'm 50/50

We have a lot of younger players now. If we go to 1 game a week the likes of Sarr spence and skipp literally won't see any game time.

I wouldn't be averse to Europa and treating it like Arsenal have done. Someone made a good point on a pod that although they didn't win it Martinelli and Saka almost certainly wouldn't be as good as they are now without all the Europa minutes and development they got.

It's a hard one to call tbh.

Not sure that's true.

Martinelli and Saka played plenty when Arsenal weren't even in Europe.

A pitiful amount of european pocket money next season and a few coefficient points to scrap over..

..we don't have and won't have a european capable squad. We need a rebuilding year out of it.

8th is likely and probably where we deserve to be this season.

Anything higher would be unfair to the likes of Villa and Brighton who deserve a crack in Europe in my opinion.

I had got a bit carried away , by accident, to be fair. Yes, 8th looks most likely now with Liverpool, Brighton and Villa probably overtaking us. Possible we could hold off Villa if we can avoid defeat there in what may be the Conference League decider !

We won't come as low as 9th, it'll be 8th and bloody Conference League but tbh if it is we should take it seriously as until we are run properly we won't be a true Champions League club again for a while anyway so Conference League will be our new level for now, that is the reality.

Kane will go, our squad is a mess, god help the new manager.
