I just thought i'd lift the doom and gloom around here and provide some good news.

I feel we are on course for another top 4 challenge.

Looking at our results this season, we look on course to beat all the teams in the bottom half which should ensure 60 points.

We look like we are incapable of beating anyone in the top 10 again but we have managed to get 2 points already from last seasons top 7 which is really positive. I think if we can get another 10 points against the top half, we can get top 4 again. Onwards and upwards.

We are absolutely the worst among top 6, however we are very consistent to grind out results against non top 6 teams. I believe we will get around 80 points which is still going to be a record breaking season.

We are much better than Man Utd, we just turned up to play negative football and put in our worst performance of the season, including our manager.

We still can't win enough big games away from home. As long as we win the Home games it will be enough for top 4. We have to start winning the big away games to go the next step and win titles.

Last season we lost away to Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham but still finished 4th despite the odd slip up. We've improved on the latter so far having beat the likes of Brighton and Southampton at home. We slightly improved the former with a draw at Chelsea and West Ham.

This is a really weird season where all the top 7 from last season are away first. We just have the rescheduled game against City pushed back. Other than that there won't be any game we can't win in the 2nd half of next season. There will be slip ups and we may lose the odd big home game but if we keep that to a minimum it should be enough for top 4 again.

Yesterday just felt typical really. We had the win against Everton to record our best start to a PL season. Then we play our worst game of the season after. We just need to keep up the form against teams outside top 6 and win at least a few big games at home. That will get us 80 plus points which is a great return.

True. Last season City, Liverpool and Chelsea were pretty solid. Utd and Arsenal were a bit crap.

At this stage it looks like the teams we are competing against for 4th have improved.

We currently average 2 pts per game since Conte arrived. Keep that up and we are top 4 with 76pts or more. Pretty gutless performances vs Arsenal and Utd. What he is doing with subs beats me, why bother.
Miguel Delaney of the Independent reports that Conte is saying he is tailoring training and performances for us to peak after the World Cup . Hope it works.
Everybody says you must do well against rivals for the top 4. Not always true.
The last season Ronaldo was at Utd and they won the title they beat the bottom 12 home and away with one draw being the exception. That was 23wins plus a draw. 70 pts.
They won the league with 91 pts . 21 pts in 14 games vs the teams 2nd to 8th. Not a great return but it didn’t matter.

The good thing, is that we have now played Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea and West Ham away. That leaves just City and Liverpool in the second half of the season but we should have a much kinder run away from home now, where we should be picking up points.

Think we will be ok for 4th as long as we continue with the great home form but its away from home we need to start picking up more points now.

While the quality of the top 6 teams will fluctuate season by season, it's similar to a relegation battle - get enough points and you will be all but guaranteed a CL spot. Arsenal's 75 points in 16/17 season is the highest points tally in PL history that hasn't resulted in a top 4 finish. That is 4 points more than we got last season, and we are currently 7 points ahead of where we were after 11 games last season.

We have lost points in what is four of our six toughest away games, while some of our opponents have lost points in easier fixtures. Chelsea have lost against Southampton & Leeds, and drawn to Brentford. United have lost to Brentford & Brighton, and drawn to Newcastle. Liverpool have drawn to Palace, Fulham, Brighton and Everton.

We simply have to improve the squad in January. The subs today turned the game on its head and showed just how big the gap is between our top players and their backups. Having only ~15ish trustworthy players is unsustainable given the absurd fixture congestion this season. Bring in a new RWB, a creative AM and a quality CB in January and we'll be in a far stronger position to manage it.

Just very annoying that the 4 teams closest to us we have lost 3 and drawn 1

As long as we're still in touching distance come the WC then I think we'll all be happy enough.

I would like to see our GD improve though, as its usually a fairly good barometer of where teams are at.

Liverpool and Leeds probably not the most ideal fixtures to change that but even a couple of victories by 2 goals would help.

I'm not sure we are going to make top 4. We'll need an amazing January window to boost this squad and get rid of the shite.

I dont think anyone is sure.
This idiotic World Cup in the middle of a season is gonna play a massive part in the second half of the season.
