I am confident that the last three years will not be wasted if we finish fifth - again.

You probably right! But it will be down to how the management cope with

1. No CL football for player who have had a taste and like it (Bale, Sandro, Modric)

2. Lets not forget that 5th is still a possible miss with Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Liverpool left to be played.. All of which are greedy for points!

With seven games to go and we need a minimum of 15 points to shave it for 4/5th

3-0 & Tevez off with a hamstring injury. Oh my! :D That said we shouldn't forget that now Liverpool are only 5 points off us & we have still to play them at Anfield. They're on their way to beating another Manchester club quite convincingly at their place. I think we might have to wish the gooners beat them on Saturday just to peg them back a bit! *gulp*

I wouldn't want liverpool to get any more as goal difference between us and the Scousers could be cruical! However the way I see it is if we don't finish 4th finishing 6th would be better then finishing 5th as their won't be no shitty UEFA Cup which means we can focus soley on winning the league next season! BUT 4th is now ON!

Goal difference? We're 5 points ahead of them with a game in hand, we don't need to worry about GD!

My God Liverpool look lethal with Suarez and Carroll....that looks a pretty tasty trade off for Torres now!

Nah I knew Suarez was good, still cant believe we wern't in for him.

This is massive for us and with Tevez coming off with an apparent torn hammy could prove even more decisive.

I think our chances have gone from 10% to 40/50% in the space of a week.

My God if we were to beat the Scum we would be level on points - game on is an understatement.

Minus losing to Madrid midweek, I wrote on a previous thread how long a week in football is and it's proved correct. Many people had written off our chances of 4th when we drew to Wigan but you honestly have to take every game as it comes and see where it takes you.

However, Man City still possess fantastic players and without wanting to rain on anybody's parade, the Tevez injury may galvanise them and prompts Dzeko into some resemblance of his former self. Of course I hope this isn't the case but we shouldn't necessarily write City off either, with or without Tevez.

4 points from the next 2 games and we will be above city before the next time they play. Pressure on.

Yeah, they still have fantastic players but he is the heartbeat of the side, without him they look robotic, lack vision, and goals. If he's out for the run in the morale in the squad will suffer.

Dont think anybody is writing them off, they're still very much favourites because they're above us, we still have to go to them and our run in looks tougher.

Make no mistake though if they lose Tevez thats a huge blow.

I can't see Dzeko picking up the slack at all. Balotelli is the only one who's got the talent to fill in for Tevez... But he's an arse hole so probably won't bother.

You're always going to miss a player of Tevez's calibre, especially if it's longer term but looking at our own experiences of when Bale has been injured or Modric, we have found a way to keep the run going.

I remember last year when we were praying for Palacios not to get banned late on in the season and eventually picked up his booking at United and we all thought we were doomed but it turned out to be a blessing with Huddlestone and Modric doing the business for us and the rest, as they say, is history!
