Spurs being title winner was always pie in the sky as far as I was concerned. Saying that if we were to win the title, I would eat that said pie humbly!

A successful and more realistic achievement in my opinion, is making top 4 and winning the Carabao cup. Very achievable!

Europa please

I’ve almost lost all hope about winning the title but another part of me is expecting a 10 game winning streak starting from tomorrow.

With Villa picking up the same amount of points with one game still in hand, we’re “currently” in danger of being sucked into mid-table, which is unbelievable given our difficult run and table position barely 2 weeks ago.

Of course might all change in a few weeks, but right now I’ve gone from title hopeful to, fuck will we even get UCL? It’s crazy!!
Only ourselves to blame for this we had chances against palace and Liverpool and neither was taken.

Rivals dropping points, you know what that means, we aren't winning tomorrow

Wolves away is never easy. A draw wouldn’t be a bad result but it won’t keep the doomsdayers happy. A win would be great and entirely possible but we need to be on our game. Win a few on the bounce and we will be well in there. Going to be tight all season. Consistency is key as usual.

The trick is to not study the table to intently so early in the season. It's really irrelevant until the new year. Until that place performance is more important..... That's why I'm so worried.

Looking forward to tomorrow, but I have to say I know it's only been a couple of disappointing results recently but my level of expectation has gone down, hence why I'm not as nervous for the game. Actually it was the Palace game that killed it for me and then the Leicester game suggested it wasn't a one off and that we maybe have more work than initially thought to do with this side.

Just really hope the passing isn't sloppy tomorrow either, feel like that's been an increasing issue with us recently.

Extremely bored so I looked at how we were doing so far this season and compared it to previous seasons at the same stage. It doesn't take into account quality of opposition but I thought it was somewhat interesting. Tried to colour-coordinate it to make it clearer but I think it's done the opposite.

Good news then that we are on target for our champions league position finishes under Poch. Should placate those worried that we weren’t.

I think no one has the strength to challenge Liverpool. 2nd through to 6th / 7th I see being close most of the season. Disappointing to see Everton get a late goal, but if we can win this tough away fixture at Wolves, it looks a little better for us again.

I also can't see united or Southampton keeping their form all season. Everton though look the real deal this season and will be tough to beat. City will be up there once they start scoring.

I read it different, it reads to me like we are in an artificial position and our performances deserve less points.

Expected goals and goals against are metrics of averages, the best teams and players will consistenty overperform and the worst teams will underperform. Those numbers suggest to me that we're right where we should be, as one of the supposed better sides in the league.

After the good work in games against City, Chelsea and Arsenal, we pretty much undid it all by only taking 1pt from the next 3 games after those.

Really disappointing and of course frustrating in equal measure.

Although these games have led me to believe that the title is out of our reach this season, we certainly have enough about us to achieve a top 4 finish (and a cup).

I haven't got a problem with Mourinho's defensive football, but there is a time and place for it. In the Palace and Leicester games we should have been a bit more expansive. At the end of the day, we have the players to play both attacking and defensive football, so why not change it up?

Anyway, our next games could see us go on a winning run (Wolves, Fulham, Leeds, Villa and Sheffield Utd), which should (hopefully!) see us in the top 4 by the end of that sequence.

So lots to look forward to, but Mourinho needs to vary the play a little bit.
Actually, I don't know. Mourinho is an experienced coach. There must be a reason why he is not mixing it up in terms of playing counter attacking football with possession football. He surely must have looked at the fitness of our MF and decided we are just not there yet....
