Anyway, back to this weekend in the PL...

Some interesting fixtures, as our current rivals play each other...

Liverpool vs Everton
Villa vs Leicester

And then there's...

Arsenal vs City
Soton vs Chelsea

If we could beat West Ham we'd be looking a lot better in the league, with a game in hand too.

And then follow it up with a win against Burnley to get the confidence flowing. And progression in the EL.

They're all winnable games tbh; February seems to have become make or break month.

A win for us this weekend is imperative for us to get top four. For once, it’s our cup final!

I'm not overly bothered by most derbies. Even arsenal doesn't have the same vibe these days. But West ham. This one still gets my blood up. Its always a manic game and their small time fans do my nut in. I.dont fancy our chances much, but it's a real must win in terms of league position.

Let's hope we take the form from tonight into the league. Nothing except all 9 points from our next 3 will do, which would probably leave us at least in touch with our minimum target of 4th going into the NLD.

Well, a good start to the 4 games mentioned above.

Barring a disaster, the result last night finished the tie, so we can rest players in the home leg.

So...West Ham and Burnley!

I guess one thing that works in our favour is that we've got Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City home and away games out of the way. If we can turn back into that winning machine we saw earlier in the season we could go on a nice run of wins.

7 points off 4th with 2 games in had. Not a total disaster but as said before we are at tipping point

Draw tomorrow and it's a 6 point gap with a game in hand - not impossible, but getting pretty unlikely. Lose, and it's a disaster - a 9 point gap at this stage would be near impossible to retrieve and mean all our eggs in the Europa basket. But a win, if we can pull it off, would really give us a chance.

Agree it would be a very difficult task, but after tomorrow we will have already played 4 of the current top 6 home and away. If we can keep up the recent improvement in our attacking play then I still think we could be in with a shout to the end based on our fixtures.

With Chelsea dropping points today, we are still in with a shot, but it so vital to beat West Ham. It has been a weird season with a lot of teams dropping points, but sadly we never seem to capitalise.

Hopefully we can pick up a vital 3 points and hopefully the start of a winning run.

Looking at the next four rounds of fixtures, we could realistically move up from 9th to 4th/5th, and still have a game in hand, IF we can grind out consecutive wins against very beatable opponents (West Ham, Burnley, Fulham, Crystal Palace). That's without any of our rivals slipping up - they just happen to be playing against each other a lot over the next fortnight, so points have to be dropped.

Chelsea just dropped 2 points against Southampton and now have Man Utd, Liverpool and Everton in their next three games
Liverpool are currently a goal down to Everton and play Chelsea soon.
Leicester play Aston Villa and Arsenal.
West Ham play us, Man City and Man Utd.
Aston Villa play Leicester tomorrow.

The league standings don't look pretty at the moment, but I remain positive that we are very much in the battle for a top 4 finish.

Liverpool look at mess atm. If Jose’s is, then Klopp’s job must be on the line if they lose this.
It's not like managers should be judged on just one season out of their time at the club. Jose recovered a mid-table position early on to 6th, lost in the Champions League to Leipzig and the FA Cup to Norwich. Klopp won the two club biggest trophies in the world football. Fair to say the latter has a bit more credit in the bank here.

I think we will and have to win tomorrow, not sure we will get top four but certainly need to be in top six and Europe again next season.

Win our next four games and I’d say we’ll probably be in 4th spot. We have West Ham then 3 very winnable games (Burnley H, Fulham A, Palace H) whilst the teams around the top 4 all have difficult games/play eachother.

I’d say anything less than 10 points from those 4 (with potentially a very damaging loss to West Ham thrown in the mix) and Mourinho would be in big trouble anyway.

The way you start your post speaks volumes about where we are right now Sargeant', West Ham and 3 very winnable games! I can't remember another season when it wouldn't just be 4 very winnable games.

Despite the doom and gloom the last two months, if we can start winning tomorrow, we are potentially right back into it. We simply have to win though. A loss tomorrow will give us too much to do, and frankly it would extend a diabolical run of league form. My sincere hope is Jose turns it around and ushers in some success, but if it is going to happen it's got to happen now.

Reading this thread is borderline hilarious, as funny as the thread title. 'If we win our next four games.....', 'If we beat X and Y and B loses to Z we'll be.....' If this, if that, blah blah blah.

If crowds were at games, ours would be singing 'We're shit and we know we are'. Get used to it.

Audere est facere.
