really? i represented by country for basketball and trust me the competitiveness and intensity you see is 10 folds. if son gets pissed at lamela because he took it then i honestly think son is being a little too petty.
since lamela missed, i would expect him not to contest for the next penalty he gets. if he does demands for it again though then we might have a problem
Love Poch but think he is telling porkies. No way would u go into a game not knowing who the penalty taker would be. I guarentee if that was the case then that wont happen again
You pick a taker if he then doesnt want to take it then give the ball to the next taker
I was expecting Son or Eriksen to take it as they both take them for their countries
As perverse as it sounds in hindsight it was quite good we missed the penalty becasue in previous years, we would have collapsed. But we still looked so comfortable at 2-0, it didn't ruin our flow and yes for the fans it was hard as i was sat there thinking fuck, here we go (Still hard to forgot all those memories of us throwing away winning positions). Great performance and tbh it was a little unprofessional, but you need people in the team to dispute things and be vocal. To often we have had players that just say nothing, look to the ground. I want winners in our team and this is sometimes how it goes down.
Son is a bit of a girl sometimes. Lamela has claimed the ball, suggesting that he's the penalty taker today. Son's obviously wanting to add to his form, but he should've just accepted it and got behind Lamela, rather than trying to block him and then sulk off. Redknapp's right in that could have put Erik in the wrong frame of mind. For me, Son should be apologising to the team for being stroppy.
End of the day, 'keeper's guessed right and made a good save.
Far too much being made of this. If Lamela sticks it in the net then it doesn't even get mentioned. I thought the claims that 'it unsettled him' were a load of baloney, if you miss a penalty then it's on you the individual no one else.
Having said that it's probably best we have a designated penalty taker for each match whilst Kane is injured.
No problem from myself if any of our players have the courage to want to step up and take a penalty. Let's not forget, although maybe not best placed, it was saved, not blasted wide.
However, what I will say, is that maybe without a designated penalty taker, episodes like yesterday allow the media to detract from our incredible display to instead focus on a nothing incident that they can propel to " trouble in Spurs camp" status.
I can't see Poch allowing for another episode like this, although to me it was a non event.
I'd have liked to see Danny [Rose, not Levy you psychos, lol] score the penalty, chance to run past Sterling laughing in celebration.
My guess is that by next game we will have a designated penalty taker.
Either way, nothing to see here, these sort of minor disagreements and angry words happen all the time amongst teammates. No one is sulking in that dressing room after smashing City to pieces.
Son was wrong
Lamala doesn't socialise
Son is the life and seoul of the party*
Son is stroppy
No offence to the authors of these onions, but its all guesswork isn't it?
*weyhey!
So i'll add my guess. Missing as penalty happens. In football we see arguments over who takes one countless times. But if you win such an argument you better make damn sure you score. We had two players who were confident and wanted to step up to the plate, to stand up and be counted, to do it for their mates and the fans and to do it last but by no means least, for Daniel Levy. It was probably the latter that caused this very minor altercation so well done Daniel Levy.
EDIT: Better add a smiley lest some genie-eye thinks i'm serious, so here it is
No-one should be taking sides here because no-one knows what went on and who the designated pen taker was, not an issue for me despite what Sky were saying.
I agree we shouldn't be making a big deal of this and had lamela stuck it in it never would have been mentioned
I didn't want Lamela to take it beause I instantly had a vivid memory of his terrible penalty against Hull and as such had no confidence he would score
Their kepper psyched him out though, before the kick you can see the keeper standing way to his right showing lamela the other other side of the goal (which lamela opted to go for)
He then danced around and I think it would have been a difficult penalty for anyone after his antics. Son didn't help by adding unnecessary pressure
Seeing as we still won 2-0 it doesn't really matter though 3-0 would have better reflected how dominant we were
You could see straight after that Son and lamela were constantly trying to link up and I am sure there will be no hang over to their minor disagreement over the kick (aren't they good friends and son took lamela as his date to the Asian games awards?)
This is a non issue and it won't have any advise impact on squad harmony, I'm certain of that
Apologies for not doing due diligence and starting another thread.
Is that a thousand or only 500 lines?
Interested in this because we seem to have a harmonious team spirit
which obviously benefits the team.
Discipline was everything yesterday
and this spat was totally unnecessary.
I don't believe there is not a designated penalty taker.
Eriksen was due to take one recently and let Janssen take it.
Clearly Jenas was at fault.
Needs sorting and fully expect it will be.
Let whoever take it that feels like it is a recipe for trouble
as my Sunday League team (British Rail Hull division since you ask) discovered.
Three players sent off and banned 'sine die'.
for a fracas.
